Truck feels like it still wants to go when coming to a stop

Ours just started having this same problem! When you start braking to slow down or come to a full stop, the transmission/torque converter will lock up and the engine will continue to power the drive train when it should disengage. When it happens it “feels like” you’re two footing it by pressing down on the gas pedal and the brake pedal at the same time!

Just saying when I release the gas having to come to a stop going 30 iam having to use a lot of force and before I know iam on the line at a hard stop. Seems like iam better off running the light.

I thought the transmission is suppose to slow down speed for the time it's not receiving acceleration. Seems like its on Cruz control coming to a stop.

Mine feels like Im driving a stick I like it. Pretty cool with a little exhaust. When you really want to have fun with the rev matching in manual mode.

My 14 sierra started doing this after about a month of driving. Basically it starts downshifting (feels like a standard transmission downshifting) at 1000 rpms. Depending on the gear your are in, it will downshift that many times. Makes for a rough stop, nothing smooth about it and it kills your brakes. It was making me crazy so I brought it to the dealer. They checked all the computer settings with the transmission and said it was normal and up to date. They explained the transmission learns your driving habits and adjusts. Ironically they gave me a 14 silverado to drive for the day and I recognized it did the same thing before I even left the lot. I drove 2 different avalanches for the last 10 years and never had this. Dealer played this off as no big deal because they were used to it. They said maybe GM will have a fix for it someday. Even if you reset the computer, it will relearn it. I guess we need to wait and kill our brakes.

I had this all the time with my 2011 avalanche. I adjusted did use a tuner device and it was still there even after setting back to factory. I have not noticed it on either of my new 2014 models.
