1. Transmission not shifting correctly misses gears, slips and clunks from powertrain; wont disengage from engine properly when braking, happens quite often.

2. Opened the door when I was leaving for work today and the speakers, radio made a strange noise for 4 seconds. Sounded like a scrambled electricity noise.

3. Unusual squeaking noise coming from what sounds to be the suspension when driving down the road. Happens quite a bit.

4. Issues with idling; seems to bounce all all over even when running-driving for 15 minutes.

5. Multiple issues with Bluetooth-my link; Phone call did not clear on the drivers display screen after hanging the call up, it was stuck.

6. Stuck on navigation screen and would not let me get out of it. Had to shut the truck off so it would reset?

7. At times, when trying to accelerate it almost feels as if the engine is missing? This has happened 4 times now and is a little scary.

Truck is going to the dealership on Monday for these issues and a recall for a software glitch in the electronically controlled transfer case that they need to recalibrate.

Anyone else having these issues?

For number 5, there is a radio software calibration that addresses this issue. Dealer installs update of software "calibration".

Actually 5 and 6 both tie into the software update that address the infotainment system getting hung up and with BT issues. 7 has been found to be bad spark plug wires or wires that came off of the coil or plug. Check your coil connection and plug connection and make sure they are "clicked" onto the coil/plug.

I have had number 2 happen to me twice since I had the truck . Just like you said a "staticky radio noise " . I'm not sure if it is a mylink issue or something else ??? Maybe a update needed?

#1 there is a recall for it but they have yet to issue the fix for it. Stopped by the dealer today after checking my VIN online to see what recalls my truck was for and they said no fix yet. Have an apt next week for the "black out" screen that happens every once in a while

Thanks for the responses, I figured I wasn't the only one having some if the issues above. It's going in Monday and hopefully they will have them all worked out!

AT LEAST YOU DO NOT HAVE THE DRIVERS SEAT PROBLEM LISTED. BUT,YES I HAVE ABOUT HALF OF THE ISSUES YOU HAVE LISTED. MY SILVERADO HAS ABOUT THE SAME MILAGE AS YOURS. MY TRANSMISSION IS FINALLY STARTING TO ACT BETTER. THESE NEW TRANSMISSIONS ARE DIFFERENT MANNERED THAN ANY PREVIOUS. IF YOU TRY DRIVING AROUND IN M5 MODE IT IS LIKE DRIVING A TOTALY DIFFERENT TRUCK. THIS ONLY LIMITS THE TRANS UP SHIFT TO FIFTH GEAR AND WITH THE BEST PART BEING 'NO V4'

ALSO IF EQUIPED ,TRY USING TOW HAUL MODE. THIS WILL PREVENT A LOT OF GEAR SEARCHING AND OVERALL DRIVEABILITY IS GREATLY IMPROVED. AS FAR AS SLIGHT MISSING ON ACCELERATION, I HAVE NOTICED THAT MINE ALSO DOES THIS UNDER VERY LIGHT GAS PEDAL PRESSURE. AS SOON AS YOU GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE GAS DOES IT GO AWAY? THESE NEW ENGINES HAVE DIRECT INJECTION AND GM HAS .7 SECONDS OF DELAY BETWEEN WHEN YOU FLOOR THE GAS AND TIME THE THROTLE BODY. IT DOES NOT RESPOND WELL TO VERY LIGHT FOOT. ALSO ,A LOT OF THE PROBLEMS I HAD ASSUMED WERE TRANS PROBLEMS WENT AWAY WHEN I CUT OUT THAT STUPID FLAPPER VALVE AND :driving: STOCK EXHAUST. THE TRUCK HAS A VERY DIFFERENT FEEL TO IT. I HOPE YOU TRY THE M5 TRICK. GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED.

I'll try the M5 & tow haul and see if it makes a difference thanks. Also, the acceleration hesitation is most likely what you stated hopefully! It goes in Monday morning & I'm covering the issues with them and hopefully they're able to take care or most of them as it seems they have seen all of them plenty.

What did you do with the exhaust?

Yeah sorry . The cat ripped off the caps lock button on the lap top. On another note , I can personally say for a fact that cats do not always land on their feet. L.O.L

Thanks Andraya,

I'm at GM they're fixing the "recalls" but they also gave me the "if GM doesn't have a fix for it we can't do anything". They are keeping the truck to fix the recalls but very frustrating as they said if it doesn't duplicate we can't do anything.

Received a call back from the service department, they said they can't get any of issues above to "duplicate". The idling is "normal" for the direct injection, they tried to he the "randomn static electricity" noise I heard 2 times when opening the door & can't get it to duplicate so nothing they can do. Evidently missing- or delaying a little while accelerating is normal? Very frustrating! Seems I'm not the only person having this issue. Why is GM not trying to figure these issues out?

As far as the recalls, they are having issues getting the "updates" to take?

Fun process so far!

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
