Shorter antenna??

I popped the little ball off the end of the stock antenna by covering it with masking tape then using vise grips. I then cut about 3 inches off the top with my bench grinder. Then using the grinder i put a point on the new end and used a little JB Weld to put the little ball back on. Last step was a little Rustoleum rattle can. Now it is the same height as the cab, no more hitting the garage door.

I just ordered a Stubby. I'll let you know how install goes and how reception is.

Put my Stubby on this weekend. No issues and reception seemed just fine. Looks way better!

Get a correct size nut, or better yet a die, and chase the antenna threads. It should screw on no problemo after that.

Tried both. The Loctite still wouldn't come off. Looks like I'll be ordering the Antennax so I can use a wrench to screw it on.

Anyone know the thread size for the antenna? I never listen to the radio, only Spotify and internet radio. Also the reception with the antenna is crap anyway. Would like to just make my own delete for it but need to know thread size

There are a few threads out there that state that a 7mm nut/bolt will do the trick for relocating the antenna. I have removed the whip and plugged the hole with a 3/4" (round) plug, that I bought at Lowe's. I may add a "hidden antenna" or two before the end of the year (this summer at the earliest). If the hole in the plastic piece around the antenna is oval, some of the guys have grabbed a plug out of the bed and plugged that hole. Great idea, especially if you are putting hooks in the bed at those locations.

I got a $10 screw on from O'reillys for my 2010 and swapped it over to the '14. Works like a charm.

At least now I know that'll work. Still wish someone knew the thread sizes lol

Digging around the internet, someone commented that it is a M7x1 (7mm - 1), found it on www.355nation.net.

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/171652-how-to-relocate-your-amfm-antenna-under-hood/- This thread states that you'll need an 11mm fine thread nut/bolt.
