txchevy4ever Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 so has anybody installed the second battery on the 1500? I've got the above kit on my 2015. Had it on my Tahoe as well.
ChevyTrucks_95 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So you only need that kit and an extra battery and your all set?
frenchsquared Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So you only need that kit and an extra battery and your all set? it is very easy... you really need two wires and a battery. The kit is just a nicer better way to go.

frenchsquared Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) If you just connect another battery to your existing one, won't that give you 24v instead of 12v? no... not if you do red to red and black to black. Red to black, black to ground will make 24 volts. Google: Series and Parallel wiring. Edited January 9, 2015 by frenchsquared
Chris Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 If you just connect another battery to your existing one, won't that give you 24v instead of 12v?Only wired in series. To have a deep well 12v, you connect the positive together and ground in the same place. To make 24v you connect pos to neg between the batteries

frenchsquared Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I would go between 4 and 0, depending on your use.
Chris Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I think factory wire size may be 8. I would use 4. 1/0 if you have a 250+ amp alternator

Two batteries is not a new thing. I would get the kit just so one does not drain the other. However it wont effect the ECU at all. Talk to anyone into hydraulics or look at any semi. Guys have been running dual batteries for as long as batteries have been made. Stereo guys do it as well. Red neck way to stop head lights from flashing.
ChevyTrucks_95 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 What size battery do I use for a 2014 Silverado 1500?
8.1HD/ALLISON Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 You need to match your batteries at the same size(cca) so that they charge / discharge evenly. If you put different sizes in it can possibly cause problems. 1
ChevyTrucks_95 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I tried looking at my existing one and cannot find any info on it. What battery is in the 2014's?
ChevyTrucks_95 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I might have found out. Is it 730 CCA's? So I would just need to find another battery that has 730 CCA also?
