Ahh, looks the same!

 

I couldn't tell ya one from the other unless I was told which was what. I can't keep up with the newer stuff. It's all so different ... that it all looks the same.

My buddy just confirmed that those indeed are ZL-1 parts he installed. Said they were cheap and super easy to install. The ones he really wanted were too involved bodywork-wise.

 

 

I forget what exhaust system we installed on his. We threw a set of headers on too at a later date. That was a pain in the ass! They don't give you ANY room to work in there. Ended up causing a misfire by cracking the porcelain of one of the plugs - got bumped pretty good by the header on the passenger side. Best to remove all the plugs in hindsight. Luckily my scan tool pointed to the offending cylinder accurately - yanked the plug and saw the crack, replaced and all was well.

 

He since has had electric cutouts and high-flow cats installed. The thing sounds SICK with the blower ramming all that air in there. Can hear that car a mile away when he romps on it. With the cutouts open the thing is deafening, LOL.

Headers were simple to install. I thought there was plenty of room. Did mine on raceramps took all of 4 hrs.

Guess they either changed the new ones, or it was the style of headers my buddy got. There was nothing easy about the install, especially trying to do it with ZERO scratches.

 

In hindsight removing the plugs would've made the job 100x easier, but I figured we could work around them and save some time. If I had to do it again, I'd just take the damn things out.

Stupid question, why does a section of the pipe curve back?

It's a j pipe and it's function is to eliminate drone. It works well

No kidding? Who makes those? I desperately want to fix the drone on my C4 Vette with LS3 swap. Thing drives me nuts on long cruises.
