I think the Z71 has different shocks and struts as well as different tires. A lot of difference in setup with all these trucks. The trucks are solid in the sense of Frame and body and very good crash tests.. A recent software update corrected the feeling that of a 5 speed stick matted to a v8 engine running on 4 cylinders in 4th gear doing 32 miles an hour with slight acceleration... Yes. A lot of inwanted vibration. O guess someone new to programming transmissions is about the equivalent as someone new to driving a stick.. Glad it has been improved!!

some things I think these trucks may all still have in common are:

- the tin can likeness.. Gravel on the rockers, wheel wells and under body resonate through the cabin like you're in a old cargo van. A little Shultz would have went a long way here.

- carpeting is piecemeal. If you peak back the carpet behind the rear seat you will see the studs sticking up like an inch over the nuts. lol

-the back up camera looks worse than my wife's 2004 Lexus gx470! As well as awful radio reception'

- the seat cushions are great until they start to wear out and wear out quickly they do! When you feel that alert probe in your right thigh. My dealers fix was to replace the seat cusion and leave the probe dangling on under the seat. And while they were at they have me the truck back with the lane departure warning turned off.. Well trained guys at jersey city Chevrolet. Even had a service excellence plaque on the wall.lol these guys are worse than shade tree used car people. I believe they'll take engine bulb out of your dash.. Never going there again!!!

In the meantime I'm shopping for struts and wheels and tires and a few cans of Shultz. Never thought in my life that would buy an $80,000.00 dollar truck that needs to modified just for every day 25-35 mph street use...(granted the streets of New York are a lot like off roading) Probably should have waited for the Z71 to come out.

Your in ny right. What dealer have you been dealing with for your issues? Edited by Lift

So, I picked my my '16 Yukon Denali on Friday. It seemed smoother than the two I test drove, yet there's still a very slight but noticeable vibration (to me, not my wife - she just likes the roominess of her co-pilots spot!)

It's very smooth up to about 10 mph, then it's like flipping a switch with what feels like a minor drive train feedback. It does not feel like a tire balance issue since it does not vary much by speed... but then again, who am I to say!

There's no issues at (highway) speed in terms of the "back window open" effect, so that's a good thing!

I went ahead and got it, as it's got too much else to offer for this minor issue to derail. Sure, I'd prefer it to be smooth throughout the range of speeds, but...

Some other observations:

> I really do like the Adaptive Cruise Control, though I'm still adapting ( ! ) to it. :)

> Heads Up Display - very nice OTHER THAN when using it on a sunny day AND concurrently wearing polarized sunglasses (Rx). It's almost invisible !!! When clouds roll over, it's definitely easier to see. At night, I assume it's a non-issue (since no polarized optics at that point!) but I have yet to drive it at night!! Two days after getting this vehicle we headed down to Ft. Lauderdale to jump on the Allure of the Seas... in Haiti now! :)

Manfredi, I Reyes dealing with once and they wanted to charge me to troubleshoot the problem. I said thanks but no thanks. Oil change tire rotation and good day! They gave the car back with greasy paper floor protectors and oily footprints on the running boards.. A closer look at the wheel locks reveal a socket and a hammer was used to take the wheel locks off instead of asking for the me for the wheel lock key.

Potamkin is better but they're all the way out in Harlem.

Chevrolet of Jersey city is the last place I went and trust this place at all.. I have one last visit scheduled there after I gave them a bad review on the GM dealer service review survey a GM representive called and asked if she could help get this warranty work done. I replied just let them do the struts.

I had some people in the car with me when j was driving through Brooklyn to get on the Manhattan bridge ask me if My tire blew out!!! lol I replied no and blamed the mayor for not fixing the roads.

If you're happy with it, that's all that matters, but if you follow thru the thread history, the vibration (vs the "open window effect") is the much much harder problem to fix, IIRC only seen 1 person get it fixed and went thru 2-3 major rear end parts being replaced (struts, drive shaft, etc)

Bought a 2015 Tahoe in August. From August to present day June 1st, 2016, my Tahoe has been in the shop reference a cabin pressure issue a total of five times. They have had my Tahoe approximately 2 months total out of the 9 months that I've owned it. The cabin pressure issue occurs upon reaching 40 miles per hour. It is very annoying. My wife in the last 6 months has been getting migraine headaches, I think I now know why she gets these migraines. The Service Department has changed the lining in the roof, balanced the tires, but nothing seems to work. Got a phone message today that the problem is 90 percent fixed but the cabin pressure issue is still there. Called the 1-800-222-1020 number and made a claim. The person handling my claim won't answer my calls or return messages left. I guess I'll continue driving the rental until the problem is 100 percent fixed. And to tops things the A/C compressor went while on vacation. Try driving around the Las Vegas area on a Holiday weekend and all Chevy Dearlerships passing the buck because no mechanic is available. Go figure. Very disgusted with this brand new Tahoe with 11000 miles.

Yep - it just came down to how much I like the vehicle vs. what I think I can cope with. What I'm not up to is countless days of having my vehicle in the shop while they experiment with what might work. If a predictable solution comes to pass, then I'll take it in, otherwise I'll just use up my 39 months of time and trade it in on a (hopefully) problem free, or reduced, 2020 model !!

Hey, when is the next (projected) model update coming along for this platform??

Hey Ace1424,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing a concern with the cabin pressure in your Tahoe and understand how multiple trips to the dealership may be frustrating. Can you please private message me with your VIN, mileage, contact information, and the dealership you have been working with in order for me to look into this further?

Thank you,

Anthony Z.

I bought my vehicle remotely, I live in Texas and the Tahoe was in Ohio, and the dealer did not disclose the wind buffeting, vibration, etc. Is there any recourse I can take for this? I am extremely dissatisfied that they were not upfront about these issues.

Ok you folks, I need your help again. I ordered a new 2016 Yukon XL back in November 2015. The day before I was to pick it up I ran across this forum. I walked away from that suv. I still miss it. Did not want to take the chance of getting a bad one, if anyone will get a bad one it will be me. Has anything changed. I drove thru the GMC lot today and they have two the same way I ordered mine. Now on some older models I think at least one qualifies for a $3500 rebate. Do they still suck? Do you all need to talk me out of buying it? What to do. thanks. john

Man, this is the best truck I have ever owned, it's everything and a bag of chips. I have not experienced any of these issues and I am probably the longest owner on this site with the same truck. I can go on for days, but I need to answer your question below...

Do you all need to talk me out of buying it? What to do.

Are you crazy (nothing personal, just had to say that). Everything is great on my truck, but if GM offered an even trade with a newer truck, I would tell them they were smoking crack. I believe problem trucks are a small percentage, but it would suck if I was in that percentage. Go ahead and get a new truck, but Eastwood said it best, you feelin' lucky.

Mine is a 2016 Suburban special order with 18" wheels built 10/31/2015. Great car no issues.

Dealers are rarely upfront, but you could talk to the GM or sales manager who sold it to you and see what they are willing to do, be prepared for nothing

Other recourse would be start keeping service notes and attempt to have your issues repaired and see if you trigger the lemon law

Same advice as we gave then

Test drive it first and see what issues, if any, are present

Keep test driving until you find a good one

Any vibrations stay far away

GM Customer Care

These questions are directed to Anthony Z. or any other GM Customer Care person.

What if anything has GM done to try to fix this issue. If you don't know find out and let us know.

Last I heard they were going to try a different exhaust.

Will the plant shut down for model change over soon even thou the style will likely not change. Will it be to make unseen changes such as add more roof bows, thicker steel or anything to solve the problems all these people have.

Please tell us what has been done and what date they started, also what is being planned for the future and those dates.

Let me know soon, as their is a nice rebate on them now, only if the issues have been quietly resolved, but if the 2017 will have updates I would rather wait and pay more knowing the issues will be resolved. If nothing has or will change then I will go a different direction. I can't wait any longer. then this fall.

    • I see where you’re going and I can appreciate that. Statistics can be misleading because of the word average. They say statistics show the average cost of a new vehicle is about 50k. The average monthly payment is close to 1000 dollars a month. That’s statistics for you. I know very few people who pay that.
    • same here , i have a 2020 first gen and the cost to repair these engines far excedes replacement
    • But Grumpy I did show several subdivisions that had homes starting in the 170K range. If you bought a Townhouse or Condo you could go cheaper. Same with a car 3000 dollars in the 70s translates to around 20K today. There are several models at that price. You actually get more for the money. In the 70s I drove a 3000$ car bought a 28K home and made 4.50 per hour. Thank goodness for overtime. Today I could buy a 170K house drive a 20K car and make 25 dollars an hour operating the same machine today. The difference the house, car, machine would be better and have AC. And I wouldn’t be taxed on overtime. And statistically your wife works too. Easing the burden. I thought we agreed to disagree. I brought receipts earlier, showing examples. I think you’re more stubborn than me. I was done with this debate.
    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
