GM full size pickups w/console mounted gear selector

Do you think GM will ever offer a console mounted gear selector in their full size pickups?

GM is the only full size pickup that doesn't offer it.

Er...why? It allows for bench front seats in it current position.

They offer a center console, why not put a shifter there, they can still offer the bench seat with column shifter without center console like they currently do.

There is no practical reason for a console shifter in these trucks. It just takes up valuable storage pace. After having driven plenty of vehicles with console shifters, if it doesn't have a manual transmission, stick the shifter elsewhere.

 

Even if someone wants it to feel sporty to row their own gears in a automatic, plenty of vehicles these days have the option of paddles or buttons on the steering wheel for the upshifts and downshifts, keeping the console clear.

It just takes up to much space. The column shifter just fits better in a truck IMO, and puts the otherwise useless space to good use.

the older 2003 era trucks column shifter is there to rest your arm on to change the radio ,,,,awesome !! lol

Sorry guys but I think it will happen eventually, everyone else has it and It's probably just a matter of time before GM offers it.

Because that's a whole separate manufacturing process that needs to be created and done. Its one less variable if the shifter is in the same spot in every vehicle.

Than leave it as an option at least. I'd gladly pay for it instead of a lane leaving vibratory device.

I dont see a high demand for it... If it aint broke why fix it...?

 

Unless its a manual trans, leave the shifter on the column.
