I too got lied to. Now with the change I am over my rating. I wish they would trade me for lower gear truck. But what can we do? Seems like gm should address as safety issue.

Contact your dealer you bought it from and contact GM. If your dealer admits they made a mistake then GM will make sure they make it right. Even swaping u out a new truck with 3.73 gears. Good luck but don't give up

My truck was an early build date, basically they misprinted in the early run of owners manuals and still have not updated their web site, even though they have sent out updates to owners.

So if others research on the GMC site and use the electronic owners manual, they too are misguided into thinking the V8 3.08 can tow more than the V6. The update lowered the tow rating by around 2k pounds.

I do think just the 3.08 trucks were affected.

GMC Site still shows the higher tow rating:

Here is the site and print screen:

http://www.gmc.com/content/dam/GMC/global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Manuals/01_Images/2014-GMC-Sierra-1500-Owner-Manual.pdf

But another part of the web site shows the lower one.... GMC....this is an oversite...

On gmc.com I just looked at 2014 trailer weight towing capacity for GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab with 4wd and 3.08 axle it is 6,700

On GMC.com they have both weights as mentioned above.

The web site says the lower but the owners manual on the web site shows the higher one.

Pics of both are above and show the web sites urls.

I am having the same problem. All in all, whether you're towing at capacity right now or not (maybe next year or the year after you will!) we were sold a vehicle under the assumption that it had certain specifications. If I was told my truck could handle the 8500 lbs, then it should do that. Not tell me it's wrong an drop it 2000 lbs 8 months later. Bought mine in December 2013. I spoke to the manager at dealership while I was there having them look for the second time at my spark plugs coming of while driving, and a pressure cracked windshield (which they found was factory fault). Please keep us updated in what the outcome is, as the manager seemed to act like he had never heard of the change in rating and had me send him copies of the new charts.

The dealer is wanting to help as they understand. So far they have been great. They asked their GM rep who has to get back with them. I hope GM stands tall and corrects THEIR mistake.

I'm still awaiting word from my dealer. If I don't hear something by midday, I think I'm gonna slide by in person and see what they have figured out thus far.

Went by the dealer today and spoke with the sales manager. I have to say, I am more than pleased with their level of service! I ended up deciding to order (option they gave me) a new truck in lieu of attempting to find a All Terrain optioned like mine with a 6.2l. The process is a little backwards in that you order the truck without any obligation (if you decide that you don't agree to the deal, the dealer just receives the truck as stock inventory) and now the negotiations are to take place between me and what the call "the zone team" who are supposed to be contacting me soon. So with that said, I still haven't talked any hard numbers with anyone from GMC Corporate so the deal is still in limbo.

On a side note, the sales manager referred to this transaction as a "dealer repurchase program." I did a quick google search however didn't come up with much. Anyone have any insight to this dealer repurchase program? I attempted to explain to my GMC Customer Service tech that all this man power to order a truck and research is a moot point if GMC doesn't offer me what I think is fair.

honestly when I went in and told the manager that i was upset with the change, i could literally see him sweating bullets. This must be a huge thing for them. They have contacted me multiple times today to try and fix the problem, and want me to come in for a meeting.

Did they make you pay full price or did you get for a good discount, like I am thinking dealer cost......cause all the money we have been paying on monthly notes will go up in smoke.

Yes would love to know what they gave you price wise. Right now my payments are really as high as i want to be. Offering me a 2015 is great but if i end up paying more its not really a deal.
