GMC lowered towing rating on my 2014 Sierra?

That's just it, there has been no offer or talk of price. As I said in my earlier response, its bass-ackwards how they are going about the whole thing. Basically I order the truck through my dealer who has authorization from "the zone team" to do so. I then wait for "the zone team" to contact me and they are the one's who will negotiate the terms of the exchange of my 2014 truck for the 2015 I had built. If I decide not to agree with any terms, the dealer just receives the truck as a part of its normal inventory and I keep my 2014.

I will update when I receive a call from "the zone team." I'm not holding my breath however I did get a reassurance from the sales manager that he is positive I will come out happy from the deal and he hasn't steered me wrong, yet.

Did they make you pay full price or did you get for a good discount, like I am thinking dealer cost......cause all the money we have been paying on monthly notes will go up in smoke.

I agree. I have factored the amount of money I have made in payments over the past 11 months into my acceptable offer parameters not to mention that I'm almost a year through my financing term. I know their retort will be that I'm now receiving a new truck however they already made their money on the initial purchase, this is just them doing whats right for their mess up. I have no idea what GMC will offer, but am anxiously waiting to see.

The best thing I can tell you is have patience. These guys aren't in any hurry to get things done however they control the strings so there's no point in pissing them off. For those that have expressed that they are in the same boat as I, I will PM you when I have actual details of any offers GMC sends me. I hope to hear something tomorrow however I have a feeling it will be next week before they contact me.

I'm in the same boat, I called GM Executive offices (1-866-636-2273) and filed a "diminished value" claim. The truck they sold me doesn't do what I need, I can't tow my rig until this gets settled.

I was given a case number on Thursday afternoon, and someone is supposed to call me within 48 hours. I'm working this from the top down. Visited eight the dealer today to get me into something comparable with the appointments, but with a 2500 diesel.

I was also told I have recourse with arbitration and lastly Florida's Lemon Law. There's a formula for the lemon law; (current mileage x value at purchase)/120,000 is the dollar amount you are responsible for the "use" of the vehicle between purchase date and now. Also...get the receipts for any costs incurred in acquisition of the vehicle you had done or installed on your vehicle. (Window tint, CAI, tonneau, etc..) and the monthly payments you've made so far.

So you subtract your use of vehicle figure from the retail price of your purchase, then add your "collateral". That's my line in the sand. For me it adds up to them paying off the loan, even Steven. Anything more would go a long way towards me forget this.

Since I'm already driving the highest max tow rated crew cab, Im going to have to jump up to a 2500.

I worked out a deal with GM, I rather not go into the details but both sides gave up some. Here is new truck...at a higher note.....

Has exact same options as my red one but in a Denali.

anyone need the billet grill off mine?

Truck looks great bud! I've gotten a little further in the process however nothing to post about yet. I will say that they have been upfront about everything as best I can tell, just haven't gotten any hard numbers yet.

I'm playing the ignorant card here, but I just want to make sure I keep my family safe. Is the lowering of the tow rating just for GMC and / or 3.08 gears? I'm sure with the Silverado and GMC sharing the same platforms, that the affected would include the Silverado, just by default. Therefore, it would stand to reason that the lowering of the tow rating is a 3.08 issue. I'm just thinking out loud, sorry. I only bring this up because my wife and I are currently shopping for a travel trailer and I want to make sure I'm in the safe range of the truck. I have the '14 CC SB w/ 3.42 gears and according to the owner's manual, I'm good for 9600 / 15k GVCW.

My worry is that GM took almost 8 months to send me the trailer wiring harness and I just received the recall letter in the mail for the air bag connector 4 days ago.

I spoke to my dealer as soon as I saw this post and was assured that GM did not lower the tow ratings on the 2014's. So, obviously, that was a futile conversation.

I need to make sure that my wife's eyes do not get the larger than what the truck can safely tow. For those of you out there who would reply, "Just buy something in the 6k range", you've not met my wife.

EXSlider400 I PM'd you, I'm hoping I can do this same thing with mine

Ex slider can u pm me too? I'm in the works with GM execs, I'm in Canada, seems to be a bit harder here proving myself to the execs. They're aware of the problem but keep asking "do you really need it to tow more?" Regardless, I paid for a truck that doesn't do what I was told it does. They want to put me into a 2015 2500 HD, but at what cost? I told the woman three times I'm not going up in my monthly payments

Posted

I did increase my monthly payments and got docked 50 cents per mile. I had to prove my camper was in between the 6,600 and 8,600 as well.

Exactly, we all bought a truck that was supposed to be able to tow a certain amount, and now they magically can't. GM screwed up and needs to fix it, not just say everyone is SOL
