Adjusting door hinges - risky?

[emoji849] you can adjust the doors by slightly loosening the bolts from the hinge to the door, have a 2nd person slightly push the door up or down as needed, and to retighten the bolts.

It isn't rocket science. These trucks are mass produced and there are tolerances and slop in the door hinge holes.

The dollar bill pulls out of the driver's side door with noticeably less resistance compared to the passenger side door which is harder to pull the dollar bill out.

The drivers side door (along the top) appears and feels to stick out from the top of the cab more than does the passenger side which seems to be more recessed compared with the top of the cab. Nothing drastic, but still noticeable.

On earlier dealer visits to solve the wind noise on the drivers side, per the Invoice - “Adjusted front and rear doors for better fit plus striker adjustment. Weatherstrip poor fit – ordered weatherstrip replacement - replaced weatherstripping”.

Still have the wind noise n the driver's side so, I will provide this dollar bill test result info to the dealer tech next week.

I have the same issue on my 2015 - making me crazy - u get it fixed?

You guys are a riot. How do you quiet your mind at night to sleep?! Door hinges really seem to get to you guys.

I never knew there could be an issue until I read it here. Mine are a little out, but I've never noticed before. So it's ok.

If you're gonna adjust your hinges, make sure you have a 2nd able-bodied person. The doors are heavy.

I'm having a door issue with my 2017 Crew Cab (which I've posted about here before in a different forum). The passenger side front door sticks out slightly when closed and it makes the door rattle like crazy. I've had it back at the dealer before for it (at first I thought it was the seat) and all they did was replace the door latch. Well of course that didn't stop the rattle. I've used electrical tape on the striker (which only temporarily works), I've adjusted the striker multiple times, and I've even tried adjusting the entire door by loosening the bolts that bolt the door to the hinges and moving the door around. I've applied liberal amounts of silicone grease to all the rubber around the door too - that stops the rattling sound for a couple days. Then it comes back. The door moves and rattles so bad that the actual latch hook has a hole in the plastic. I really really don't want to take it back to the dealer again, but I'm fearing I'm going to have to.

I had an issue with wind noise. Dealer could not find it. I know you said they taped up the door and the noise went away, but you should redo the test yourself.

My leak was in the same place as the attached image (red). It disappeared when i taped up the mirror. It sounded like the wind was coming in over my ear.

My suggestion would be for you to tape up your mirror, go for a drive and see.

If it stops, you know you have a leak here. I used some gasket sealer between the door and gasket and the gasket and mirror (red line) and then opened the door, let down the window and wrapped tape around the window frame and mirror plastic to compress the gap and close it while the gasket sealer cured (blue line).

It worked.

Don't go messing with your hinges just yet.
