Short Box vs Regular Box

I came from a Tahoe so even the short bed has a ton more cargo space but I did consider the 6.5' bed. Essentially you are making everything 10" longer, wheelbase, length. So the tradeoffs come with how you are using the truck, more space in the bed versus parking it, turning radius, and fitting in places like your garage. I think that's why most people go for the short bed with the CC, it's just not as unwieldy for everyday versus how much you would use the extra bed space. of course for some it's the opposite based on your situation.

So what do you like or dislike about your short box or regular box?

I'm looking at buying a 2015 crew cab and I want the regular box because of the additional length. I might want to haul a dirt bike or a golf cart. The crew cab regular box has a longer wheel base and an overall length of 20ft. I can only find double cabs with a regular box at the dealers. I don't think the double cab has enough back seat leg room.

Thanks for your comments.

I went with the double this time. Its night and day in comparison to the extended, not as much leg room as a crew though. If you rarely have anybody ride back there or kids, like I do I dont see spending the money on a crew

I see where you come from as I like the 6.5' bed but I also only have the extended cab as I don't have passengers often. If I got a crew I think I'd put up with the longer length, though I'm not crazy on how they look proportion-wise.

Ive ridden extensively or owned every config from crew to single. Crews are nice they are, but if you do short trips and few in the back. A double cab is more than enough room for kids or short trips. I just dont see adding 4 grandish for something rarely used.

wow I didn't realize it was that much of a jump in price to get a crew cab as I never priced anything else but crew cab standard bed trucks but that is certainly substantial, worth it to me though.

Yeah I don't often have people back there- when I'm back at our office in NH occasionally I'll be the driver for lunch and before I moved I used to occasionally watch a friends kid when him and his wife both worked Saturdays but that's about it and the ex cab has been fine. If I had kids though I'd probably look closer at a crew cab.

For me, overall truck length is most important. I came from a 2007 Silverado Extended cab with the standard size bed. I found that I used the cab more than I used the bed and while the bed length was nice when I needed it for large hauls, the fact remains that I use the cab more than the bed and I didn't really want to get a longer truck. So when I got my 2014 I sprung for the crew cab with the short bed so the overall truck length is the same as my 2007. I don't have any complaints so far. I use a truck mostly for commuting and some work around the house and some off-roading occasionally so the shorter bed hasn't really affected me much and the shorter wheel base is better for off-roading. The bed is still plenty big and way more room than any mid-size truck so it works for me. But if I was working with my truck everyday, I could see wanting a longer bed. You can still fit a dirt bike in the short bed with the tailgate down if you're ok driving it that way. Ultimately I would say to base the decision on what you'll mostly be using the truck for on a daily basis. I wouldn't get the short bed if you plan to put a toolbox in the bed.

4-5k difference. It might get absorbed in rebates or one might argue with a certain trim or package the saved a little more money. But in general even with fords its roughly 4k more for a crew. Which minus any merits or worth, I dont see where they get the 4 grand from. theres a little more steel and some labor, but not that much. Buts lots of people buy them and like them, so the upgrade fee probably isnt that much in most peoples eyes. But 4k is about an extra $80 bucks a month if you look at it from a loan perspective.

I went with the short bed on mine because i liked the overall look and size on the Crew Cab. I have seen a few Crew Cabs in person with the regular box and I think that it is a nice look also.

If you are using this for hauling I would receommed the regular box for sure. I have only used it a handfull of times to move large items and even then I wish I had the extra foot.

As far as Crew Cab vs. Double Cab, this is going to be a big personal opinion but I am not a fan of the double cab without suicide doors, it just looks like a Tundra from 5 years ago to me. I have owned several extended cab trucks in the F-150 line and those where all nice but after stepping up to the Crew Cab it is a hard sell to go back.

Love my crew cab standard box fits my yamaha grizzly 700 with the tail gate up.

I held out for a crew with standard. Took the dealer a bit but I wouldn't have it another way. Crew cab is essential. The space for passengers or cargo with the seats up is phenomenal

Short box crew was created so it would fit in the same garage space as the extended (now called double) cab 6.5ft.

Wheelbase and OAL are identical.

My 2500 is a crew std box -- to long for the garage.

1500 Crew cab with short box, GM says not to tow a 5th wheel.

Bed is too short and camper will bust out rear window when locking in pin.

WTI futures <> current 4-7% inflation and national average gas price over $4.00/gallon.   The spot price, at delivery, is currently $87-$95/barrel which is why gas prices remain high.   Edit: oH mY gOd mEnTaL BrEaKdoWn In tHE pOsT aBOve mInE. • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
