Colorado 4.3L

I wish GM would of put the 4.3L Ecotec in this truck. I think it would really do some numbers for sales. but then again that's getting into what the new Silverado is rated for unless your talking gas mileage. whats everyones thoughts if that was an option?

The 3.6 puts more power up top and has better economy

I agree with Chris, and I'm sure one year they will offer a limited run of 5.3's in the truck, at least I hope they do.

Thoughts? I think you need to search and post something else that hasn't been beat to death on. The 4.3 won't come, they would have to advertise an engine with less HP and MPG than a previous engine and that is a poor choice. How do you advertise that? Commercial 1: "Come check out the new Chevy Colorado with 305 hp and 26 mpg's". Commercial 2: "Come check out our new and improved Chevy Colorado with 285 hp and 25 mpg's".

See how silly that looks?

You won't see a 5.3 for cafe's sake, not to mention it will be overkill when they won't up grade towing much as it would slander the full size base-mid level trucks numbers.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see the 4.3 over the 3.6 but the 3.6 is so close in performance it isn't a handicap by any means. Best we can hope for is a TT 3.6 in a performance ZQ8 variant. The LGX should be in there in a couple years and the D-max will have the torque people happy. All bases seem to be covered other than some dreamers...

Those two choices might boost sales some but at a cost of development which means higher prices, no thanks. I think GM would rather have a few less sales and more profit margin.

I think they didn't put in the 4.3 and used the 3.6 too keep a gap in the millage so they can sell more 2016 Colorado's with the diesel engines.
