First fluid changes on the new K2's??

I never came here for service intervals, I was just wondering when others were doing their initial drain and refill for everything after everything was broken in lol

This is why I always end up quitting forums when I try to help.

For the record, GM dealers (mechanics) take direction and training directly from GM. They don't invent the knowledge or training themselves.

I am also not "out of my league". I have access to significantly more reputable information than you. I am also not the one, again, asking the random un-trained internet for advice. Once you start asking forums for advice, YOU are out of your league.

As for giving the civil discourse advice, you called me names first. I simply questioned your information in a way that made you feel hurt - probably because it made you realize how unqualified you really are. Calling me names and then going on a diatribe about manners is sad. I'm out on this thread, and yet again another forum I probably could have helped more on.

i changed my oil at 1k but the dealer didnt want to. i told him do it anyway, and used one of my free oil changes. i feel better about it even if it doesnt matter. aside from that i'll probably never touch any other fluids because i'm too lazy and have never owned a vehicle that went over 100k miles, no matter how long i owned it.

you can follow the manual, or do your own thing if you want. who cares? change it every 5000 miles so you never ever ever have a part break. for sure.

Just wondering how you have been doing with your trans and diff fluid changes. I just oredered a Wix trans filter and want to get this done over the holidays. I am taking 2 weeks and want to do the diff and trans during that time. Did you use the Mobil 75w90 off the shelf at Wally World for the diff. I have a couple of old quarts that have never been opened I was thinking of using for this. What did you do about trans fluid?

Every vehicle I have bought, I have changed out all drive train fluids before the 1st 5000 miles. Then go to the manual intervals, usually the severe version, as most of my vehicles fall into that category in one degree or another. I have not had a major engine, xfer, trans, or diff problem with a vehicle in well over 45 years. At least with a new vehicle. Used vehicles, I have gotten the resulting problems from owners that didn't follow sound maintenance principles.

I haven't used the typical 75w90 off the shelf at WW, but no reason not to. I get my oil and lube products for my personal vehicles thru my commercial oil supplier, none of which are regular off the shelf stuff. But you will do well using something like Mobil 1 75w90. Very good gear lube. You can get the commercial grade Mobil Delvac 75w90 at some heavy truck parts and dealership outlets. You can obtain it in the same squeeze bottle quarts. I would prefer that one. It is very stout. It is the factory fill for heavy commercial truck differentials. I use the same 75w90 that goes into my commercial semi trucks in my Cadillac CTS and my Silverado.

I did my transmission and drivetrain around 15k miles, never did them at 1k miles lol. I'm creeping up on 65k here soon, very soon, so it's time for a service. Need to do transmission, tcase, and both diffs.

For the fluids, yes I did use the Mobil 1 full syn off the shelf, but from autozone, my walmart only carries their store brand of gear oil. It has the limited slip additive but I haven't noticed any ill effect on the differential thus far. As for the transmission and tcase I used Pennzoil full synthetic transmission fluid that I got at my local parts store. I believe on this next service I'm going to be using Amsoil for the trans and tcase. Need to order my trans filter and gasket here soon. I will also probably be doing these services over the holidays sometime
