Cadillac is rolling out the first photos and information on the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V and it's mighty impressive. 640-horsepower and 200 miles per hour might be all you need to hear.

The all new CTS-V shares the same 6.2L small block engine as the 2015 Corvette Z06 and also comes equipped with an 8-speed automatic. Sadly, no manual transmission will be offered.

2016 Cadillac CTS-V Highlights

  • Launches in late summer 2015
  • 640-horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque
  • Top speed of 200-miles per hour
  • More horsepower than the Mercedes-Benz BiTurbo 5.5L V8 or the BMW 4.4L TwinPower V8

  • 0-60mph in only 3.7 seconds

  • Standard Carbon Fiber hood

  • Available Carbon Fiber vents, front splitter, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser

  • Brembo high-performance brake system

  • Third-generation magnetic ride control

  • Structural stiffness increased by 25%

  • Driver selectable modes for touring, sport, and track driving conditions

  • Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires

  • Sueded Microfiber and matte-finish carbon fiber interior trim

  • Optional Performance Data Recorder (PDR)

No doubt about it, the next generation CTS-V will be quite a machine. Here's a few more photos to enjoy!

Hmmm - if my Hellcat continues to be delayed. :dunno:

But only if a 2 DR is available.

Boy, sure looks a lot like a Holden or a Chevy SS...

I guess the new CEO's big changes means scrummaging thought the ole GM parts bin to build new cars.

What's wrong, own a Lincoln?

No, I owned a GTO and almost bought an SS. I love the platform but I wish Cadillac would step out from the GM umbrella with some more unique designs. Besides I bet an SS with a supercharger would have similar performance for 20k less. I guess we won't know until pricing is released.

Drool..... Where's the coupe and/or wagon?!

The wagon was such a boondoggle (and money loser!) for GM. I hope to GOD they don't do it. And I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the coupe, either. If you want a smaller version, pick up the ATS-V instead.

From what I have read, this is NOT based on a Holden design at all. It is based on a stretched ATS chassis which is a uniquely Cadillac design.

I will have to dig up that reference.

Wish I could afford this, but you just know it will come in at just over $100k...

I'd be very surprised if it's anywhere near that much money. I'll bet an optioned out V will be in the 70s somewhere. Maybe kissing 80.

Exhaust Sounds mean.

from the article:

It was recorded by the Car&Driver magazine crew during the CTS-V reveal event in an enclosed space. While it's only a few seconds long, the audio sampler gives us an idea of what to expect when the car makes its full video debut in the coming days or weeks.
