Max tailer package ride

I think the max GVWR is 7600 and that's with the NHT. Are you talking about the gross weight of the trailer? I haven't taken a ride in a 1500 with mag ride. But I would suspect that all of the float would be gone and you probably wouldn't porpoise. Here's a quote from GM regarding mag ride on the sierra denali: “The responsiveness of the system makes this full-size truck feel and drive like a luxury vehicle – and one that’s more comfortable on long trips, especially when trailering.” If it behaves like the last generation denali with the auto-ride suspension I would suspect that when you push tow-haul it would tighten up your suspension as well as activate all the normal powertrain enhancements.

I actually own a 2013 Yukon Denali now. I am trading that in for the Sierra I decide on. The ride is great, I know, and I've read all the GM blurbs the Mag Ride in the Sierra Denali .... but I take the hype with a grain of salt.

 

Would I be better with more capability of the Max tow ... or more comfort and confidence of the Denali? How much comfort would I notice ... that's the tough question for me since I can't find a dealer that has both. Denali Tow 9400# - Max Tow 11200#.

You know what might give you a close approximation is an Escalade ESV. Wheelbase is close, front suspension should be identical and GVWR is also very close. The GAWR for both ends is 4200...pretty close too. The Sierra Denali will be more front biased empty but the ESV will give you a better idea on how it will ride with a moderate load. My cousin has a short wheelbase Escalade and the mag ride makes the 24" wheels ride like my denali xl on 20s. Best of luck!

I would take the Danali over a SLT max tow any day! The unloaded ride on the Danali is just perfect! There are tricks that could be done if the Danali squats to much, between the interior and the 6.2 8-speed it is a winning combo!

I have not driven any of the 14 or 15 GM trucks......but I did shop the Denali when I settled on a loaded 2015 GMC SLT with the 6.2 and max towing package. Personally, I couldn't see the price difference between the two since it just came down to trim differences. Also, while I don't pull often I don't like to be short on power when I do. I was also trying to eliminate some of the squat under a heavy trailer like I experience in my 2009 GMC 1500. It was due to these two reasons that I purchased a 2008 2500 HD with the Duramax just 30 days ago, however my wife hates the ride so I just sold it today with 19,000 miles on it. For me, I think the truck I ordered will best suit my needs. While I don't have mag ride in the truck I have coming I do have it in my new 2015 C7 Z51 and it is amazing technology. Much improved over the 2013 and earlier system. Personally, I think I will have a truck that will give up nothing to the Denali in comfort and amenities plus I will have the max tow package to haul my C7 and Harleys in large enclosed trailers. For ME.....its the best of both worlds. Good luck and enjoy your new ride. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Test drove a 2500 and 1500 crew, short bed, 4x4 on 12/30. The 1500 had the Max Trailer Package (heavy springs). I purchased the 1500 on the 12/31. I wanted the 2500, but it would not fit in the work parking deck. The ride on the 2500 was a bit stiffer, more than a bit really, felt every bump and crack in the road. The 1500 is still stiff compared to past Ford products (Three F-150s and and Expedition EL) but softer than the 2500.

I have a 2015 ex cab 4x4 with the Max tow and 5.3 and it rides great. Just as good as my 2012 GMC 1500 ex cab 4x4.

It appears, as is usually the case that not everyone agrees on the ride quality of the max tow trailer package. I guess I will need to wait to see for myself. I was hoping it would ride like or very close to the regular 1500 suspension. I sure hope it's nothing like my 2008 HD extended cab.

I test drove the Max Trailer package before I bought a 2014 Z71. I couldn't tell much difference in the ride in a parking lot or on paved roads (no dirt roads nearby to test on). I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Well .... the winner is ......

2015 Sierra Denali 4x4.

I found a dealer that had just got in a Denali, and had an SLT crew cab ... both in 5.3.

On the open road, there wasn't much difference at all, but on roads with a little chatter ... you felt next to nothing in both sound and bumps in the Denali. The damping was excellent. The SLT took them well also ... but it was a bit loose compared to the Denali.

 

I will miss my Yukon Denali but this suits my needs better. I drove the Denali Sierra Home.

I currently own a 2009 GMC 1500 4x4 Crew Cab and a 2008 Silverado 4x4 2500HD Duramax with an extended cab. My wife is fine with the ride of the 1500 but really dislikes the 2500HD. I just put a deposit down on a new 2015 GMC 1500 4x4 SLT with the max tow package and 6.2L. that is scheduled for the third week of March. My question is this: How will my new order ride as compared to my other two trucks when unloaded? To date, I have not test driven a new 14 or 15 GM truck in any configuration. Both of my existing trucks will be sold before my new truck arrives. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 6.2L std bed crew cab with NHT. It rides wonderfully. Matter of fact, I drove a short bed without the max towing package and didnt notice any difference. You will love the 6.2!

actually, for 2015 GM trucks are rated according to SAE J2807 standards as well!
