Just looked over the owners manual if media had a limit, and apparently you only run into issues after 8000 files, but only concerns using the voice prompts.

 

However averaging 5 mb per file, that's still only 40 gigs.

 

I say either your infotainment will take a dump, or it will be cataloging songs for an hour every time you select media source. [emoji106]

Hard drive is now residing in my house again, I waited around for about 15 minutes and still couldn't pick a song lol.

Hard drives are not supported:

. The USB MP3 players and USB drives connected must comply with the USB Mass Storage Class specification (USB MSC).

. Hard disk drives are not supported.

. The following restrictions apply for the data stored on a USB MP3 player or USB device:

‐ Maximum folder structure depth: 11 levels.

‐ Applicable audio extensions are mp3, wma, aac, m4a, and aif.

‐ WMA and Apple lossless files are not supported.

‐ Supported file systems are FAT32 and NTFS.

I got a 64 Gig USB Stick full of music and movies. Works great. Takes time to index once you plug it in, after that it's golden. Loads up in seconds now.

I just tried a single album on another little external hd and it worked, I have faith again lol.

What format are the movies?

 

Nice to know it caches the media source for quick access.
