2014 Silverado - Turn on Cargo Lights via Console Switch while in reve

But am hoping to get a definitive answer, or at least some testing from a GM Tech.

 

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500. The cargo light switch currently only activates the lights while in park or neutral any other gear will either turn the lights off if they were on or will prevent the lights from activating. On my friend's 2015 Silverado 2500 he has the ability to activate the cargo lights in Park, Neutral, AND Reverse. I'm wondering if this is a simple programming switch in the BCM to allow cargo light activation while in reverse. If so is it something that the dealership can program?
