Driver alert seat hurts

Any idea what they are going to do on Thursday?

How did they re position them last time?

I think the sensors should be further down the seat to the lower thighs where there is less weight on the seat.

They still don't know... I have contacted GM again to ask them to have someone from engineering to get involved so they are not just guessing... They claim that they are rebuilding my seat but we will see.

I will keep you all posted

Any updates yet?

Mine is in the shop. The dealer moved the sensors lower and added padding but I could still feel them.

They are removing them, leaving hooked up and securing under the seat as others have done. Foreman said the sensor are pretty big and on a short harness which makes moving them very difficult. I am hopeful that in the next year GM will come out with a service bulletin to repair this.

Just forwarded this info to the GM rep and seeing if I can take back to have them

Do this until more people have the same problem... They added more padding but still was not a place you would want to sit long .... At least your dealership was willing to try something... Vandervere in Akron pretty much said they were done and I had to live with it.

Can't you use the adjuster to tip the seat base to an angle that is more comfortable?

No because they are right under my upper leg (where it meets my butt) I cannot get them away from contact area... Tried all different positions..... Words of caution .... Test drive for long time before you get this feature!!!! It was not on vehicle I test drove but was on the one delivered....

Something that won't really cost anything but time, you could cut out just a little bit underneath where the "probes" are to kind of french them into the padding. Just an idea.

They claim they did this the first time but apparently the probes are fixed on the frame and do not move... The cushion moves around them when you sit on seat...

My dealership was gonna try to move the sensor to the outside side but there is a reinforcement brace there.

Surely your dealership can secure the sensors under the seat until a Service Bulletin for the repair is released from GM.

They will remain plugged in, just no functional cause I wont be able to feel them. Honestly I would rather temporarily be without the feature than have them be so uncomfortable.

Guy on Caddilac forum had his moved towards the front, but my wiring harness wont reach that far.

I read this thread when it first started and thought "huh, I've never felt the sensors." I went as far as poking around on the seat pretty hard to see if I can find them, but no luck. So there's at least one seat out there where they are buried deep enough that they can't be felt even collapsing the pad a lot. Maybe they made a recent change to the design? My truck was built 12/9.

I don't feel mine. Truck was built around 11/15/14.

Update: My seat is fixed!!

Silverstar Chevrolet in Thousand Oaks, CA moved the lane departure sensor bars to the far back of the seat cushion where I cannot feel them. The vibration feels different and is a little more audible but it don't care, the bars are not digging in the back of the legs/butt. I think they are at the back of the cushion near where the seat base cushion intersects the seat back. I feel the vibration around my tailbone.

Shop Foreman Jaime worked to try to find a solution, in conjunction with Service Director Dominic.

I hope this information helps someone else.

Good to see they were able to help you. I don't know if this really helps anyone but these "sensors/probes" are neither. Just little plastic tubes basically. About an inch or so in diameter and about thee to four inches long. They sit in a pocket of the foam pad about two to three inches deep. Just a small electric motor with a weight on the output shaft (enclosed in the tube) . The weight is hung off center so when it spins, it vibrates. Think washing machine with all the towels on one side. I think one could replace the motor with a comparable resistor to avoid warning message if was bad enough.

I think the issue was that it was putting pressure on the leg without being activated rather than being uncomfortable when 'vibrating'.

The personalization menu can be used to disable the seat alert if desired, and replace it with a 'beep' alert.

Yes, mine dig into my leg as well (lane departure, cooled & heated), not the most comfortable seats. my 2014 Silverado LT with cloth seats was alot more comfy.
