Thats probably not unreasonable. Taking all four tires on and off alone take time. I would saying minumum 2-3 hour job.

$300.00 seems high to me, line them babies up in front of my garage. I'd do em all day long for that kind of money. Should only take about an hour

assuming an $80 an hour labor rate, thats 3 hours 45mins, i mean thats not out of the relm of reality. remember most mechanics charge by book not what i actually takes to do..

It's been 5 years, but my guy charged $200 for the front 5100s.

The rears are so easy, it's not worth paying someone unless you don't have tools and a place to do it. 2 bolts per shock in the rear. A floor jack makes it easier if you raise the truck by the frame to extend the suspension so you don't have to compress the gas shock. Maybe a half hour job for both rears.

GM pays 1.7 hours to do both fronts, and .7 for rears. 2.4 Hours total. I am very aware of how mechanics bill, I am one. This can be done in an hour pretty easily. $200.00 would be fair price to do them

Fair enough, but what GM, Ford etc bills say on warranty work vs Joe snuffy getting work done is two different things. So after market shock replacement can be a different ball game than what a dealer charged for OEM parts on a non warranty or warranty basis. Most dealers that I have talked to in the back of their mind dont really like warranty work as it pays less. They take it because they have to, and the smart ones embrace it as its guarenteed money and furthers a business in other aspects.

I wanted to know the same thing. Hate to hijack but what shocks are you getting?

The rear dampers take like 15 minutes to do with air tools. They don't even need a jack or a lift. The fronts are a bit more involved, but they aren't bad.

I think Mike is just trolling, if you read his other "2" comments they are of the same tone.....
