How to disable in-mirror turn signals?

I find that the turn signal in the outside mirror is blinding at night when trying to change lanes, especially if it is raining. I can't see traffic in the mirror with the flashing turn signal.

Does anyone know which wire would control the mirror signals and if I could add a switch to turn them off at night?

Thanks.

They are bright!! Off topic...I had a mustang behind me the other night with blue turn signals...with the combo of this red signal and his blue signal I was sure the cops were pulling me over!

maybe try and put a darker film over it, like window tint. The dealer more than likely wont change that for you. But to do it im guessing guessing, unplug a wire, clip a wire, program the computer or a combo of those things

as far as no vehicle can emmulate a blue light for markers or turning or otherwise except police, fire etc., so i wonder how long it takes before he is caught

Off topic as well, I've been seeing quite a few cars with red or blue halos or a combination of such that at first glance has me believing the POPO is approaching me. How long before these are banned?

On Topic Window tinting over the area of the arrow might be the easiest fix. I suppose you could just take the mirror apart and unplug the light as well. Seems Easy enough.... Just like removing that dang check engine light bulb in a 1980's GM product.

They are already illegal in all States.

Is the mirror in the fully straight position? It should be positioned in the detent.

You could snip the wire for them to disable them. Or surely there is a plus in the door for them.

For what it is worth when I installed tow mirrors in my 2011 with only one plugged in the click for the turn signal didn't work for the first three flashes. I know it's not much to go on but keep it in mind.

I was just thinking the same thing! Those things are so distracting, even during the day. My '14 SLE didn't have them, but my '15 SLT does. I thought I would like them, but I don't. I like the power fold and auto dim, though.

They should put the signal lights on the front of the mirror cover like some other vehicles I've seen. I always notice those on other cars. I doubt other drivers even see the arrows on these trucks. It also seems like you would want to signal those coming towards you rather than those behind you.

I think I'll do what I did to that blinking clock on the Betamax VCR. Electrical tape.

As i said before no vehicle can have a blue light on it except emergency vehicles, red ligthts a can only be tail lights and rear markers. Anything else is aftermarket and illegal in all states. Volunteer firefighers etc can have a single blue or red flasher light but can not mix both of the colors, typically that is the law as well, as volunteers at least by the letter of the law are not allowed to break normal road laws.
