Why would you assume that the Tacoma would last longer?

They have an excellent resume of them lasting, 1st Gen that is.

Long as the frame is good and change the timing belts they last.

Ah ok. I was just wondering because a couple people I know that had them didn't have a lot of luck with them and when they did break it cost them big $$.

Ah ok. I was just wondering because a couple people I know that had them didn't have a lot of luck with them and when they did break it cost them big $$.

I think I'm leaning towards the Hoe right now.

 

I'd think long and hard before getting in a Toyota....

Out of all those problems, only one was listed during the model years I wanted. 2001-2004. Probably get a 02 or 03 if I get one.

Expensive is this damn MR2 I drive lol. Parts are far and few between but man this thing is solid and runs great! Maybe things cost more when they don't break as often. Though a hoe would be nice and comfy!

Gonna get a Tahoe, if not i would like to get 2005 Chevy CC truck. I love those body styles.

No not really, been looking to find a Z71 Tahoe thats black or Bermuda Blue in 05-06 model.

Either it has too many miles or price is too much. Hard to find one without traveling 300+ miles.

They're rare, but I believe they offered a 6.2 in Tahoe for a couple years.

It's only in the 07, I think right?

I don't want a GMC, though.

Yes they are, I really like everything about em.

My next truck will definitely be a Z71.

I have found a '04 Black Tahoe Z71, thats in excellent shape. I'm gonna try to get it on Thursday.
He has been the original owner since he bought it brand new. Has all the maintenance records and such. Hard to find these days with all that, imo.

Some people are like why are you getting a Tahoe? You're single, have no kids, and you're 23. Are you gonna plan to start a family, I'm like uhh no, I just really like these Tahoes in these years. I don't tow that much at all, so I'm like why not? I can still tow when I need too, won't be often.
Just wondering if people think, I'm making a good decision. In 5 years, I owned my truck, I only towed 2 times and that was back to back days.

My family wants me to get a Tacoma or something like that. I wouldn't mind to have one, but with everything I want. Just too much and/or miles are way too much. Figured this would be my best bang for the buck, whats everyone think?

      We live in a world where the average person expects more. People say wages and our needs are farther apart. My first new home had 3 bedrooms and one bedroom. My first car and truck had what would be considered a stripped or work vehicle. In my neighborhood back then there were more homes like that and cars too. Middle managers and second home buyers worked their way up to the fancy houses and cars. Car loans were 3 years. GM had different models of cars for different income levels. The cars were pretty much the same size if you wanted a big vehicle. The nameplate designated the opulence. Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac.  To be fair some of the cost is government mandated. We can’t blame them for giving us what people will pay for. Careful advertising steering people towards more profitable SUVs and trucks. As I learned recently a minivan is a cheaper more efficient form of transportation. Certainly easier to live with. Somebody realized the profit margin wasn’t as big and gave it a soccer mom label. So it lost its coolness. They’re making it the masses are buying it. You hit your hand with a hammer you can’t blame the hammer.

      Electrical /Immobilizer Data- Battery Voltage (V) Test malfunction

      Hi All, I’m In need of advice regarding a scan result on my 2023 Silverado HD.  The Sensor Supply voltage relay states ON But…. the following 3 tests show Malfunction. Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit HIGH voltage Test status- Malfunction Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit LOW voltage Test status- Malfunction Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit OPEN test status - Malfunction. No DTC codes are stored. No DIC Lights. Remote Key Fob has been giving a few issues, namely Vehicle will not respond to an Open/Lock command from the key fob. New batteries installed to FOB made no difference, plus on one occasion recently the vehicle unlocked using the Fob, the vehicle started normally via the push button, then a random warning came up on the DIC stating the Remote Key was not found, all this while the key was located next to the central cup holders. Does anyone have any input or advice regarding this scenario? TIA

      I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need

      I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.
