Infotainment - iPhone connectivity

I recently took delivery of a 2015 Sierra SLT 4x4 and a quirk with the infotainment system is really bugging me. I prefer to listen to music and podcasts from my iPhone using the USB connection. However, when i get in the vehicle and plug in my phone, the same first song listed in my music library (on my phone) begins playing.....every....single....time.

Example: Listening to song 20, midway though...I stop the truck, get out, go shopping, come back to the truck, plug my iphone in and instead of song 20 playing from the midway point, the very first song listed in my iphone music library plays.

In another vehicle, I have a $100 mp3 deck that will play whatever was playing previously in the same spot of the song/podcast upon reconnecting.

Is there anyway to do this through the infotainment system?

After lots of research and reviewing, I was ready for less than stellar performance from this (and any, for that matter) infotainment system. The general sluggishness is annoying as well.

Ya unfortunately this is how it works with iphones. You could always use the bluetooth signal instead which generally plays from the last song played.

The same thing happened with my aftermarket pioneer deck in my last truck. I think it's an iPhone thing. Because after one of the iOS updates it started doing that. I wanna say after iOS 7

Use bluetooth. Its better. My songs always pickup right where they leftoff.

The sound quality of bluetooth doesn't touch USB connectivity though. :/

keep in mind the sound quality of the stock bose in the denali isn't awesome either. :) bluetooth sucks, but so does the whole system.

Connecting my phone every single time got old quick. I downloaded all of my music on a 32GB thumb drive and leave it plugged in. Always plays where I leave off

The SD card is the way to go. You can get huge capacity in those, and it plugs in nicely, out of the way, unlike the USB sticks. You could get one of those ultra small usb sticks, but a fast Class 10 or better SD card is still going to work better.

I got so frustrated trying to get my iPhone to work consistently while plugged in that I went the SD card route. Now i just use the phone for talking.

Welcome to MyLink hell. I've had the latest software update done. Anything plugged in via USB does this in mine.

What do you mean? It works better since the update?

I'll add my iPhone experience.

I typically use an app called Slacker Radio and the blue tooth connection Seems good enough. If I notice the battery getting low and want to plug it in, I get the same as you, always starts the first song in the apple music app, no matter that Slacker was already playing. Gotta unlock the phone and hit play on slacker radio again.
