What do you mean? It works better since the update?

Responsiveness to steering wheel controls and touchscreen improved, but none of the weird things I experienced really got fixed.

keep in mind the sound quality of the stock bose in the denali isn't awesome either. :) bluetooth sucks, but so does the whole system.

No way. This is the first bose system I have heard that sounds amazing. At first it is really good, and then after about a month of playing music and burning in the speakers they wake up big time. I didnt even need to install my amp and sub because they sound so good stock.

And I agree the SD card is the way to go. I use an ultra fast 32GB and just play my music from there.

I disagree as well. I have lots of experience with aftermarket car audio, and this bose system is quite good for a stock system.

Is there a way to tell what version of software is installed?

'quite good for a stock system' is not awesome. this system is terrible, the only thing saving it is the fact its 8 inch and factory so you don't have a lot of weird stuff going on. if the whole truck wasnt connected to the bcm you could replace the door speakers with some 100 dollar speakers and the sub with a 100 dollar sub, and probably run a kenwood head unit at 65 watts and it would rock this thing.

This system is good enough for the 40 year old who wants to maintain the value of his vehicle and sometimes listen to it loud with the windows down. Don't get me wrong, i have my system stock, because I've heard horror stories of the blinkers being full blast audio, and bluetooth stopping working, so i'll deal with the crappy system to make sure it all works together nicely.

I've had many years of designing and installing competition-winning systems. Every vehicle I've ever owned has had a custom system. Except this one. Why? It's pretty dam good, that's why. And I am NOT a Bose fan, period. But it works quite well. Is is a killer with extreme response and impressive power? Well no, it's a factory system! But honestly, this thing gets the job done. To me, it would take a fairly significant investment to truly be worth the effort, and I'm talking gooood money.

What stock systems are "awesome" by your definition? you call it terrible.....I can't see what universe is it terrible...

nevermind, its just an opinion. i think its terrible. my 2007 kenwood excelon had better sound quality, better usb and bluetooth integration.

Count me in for another that doesn't think the Bose is too bad. I'd consider myself a sort of junior audio snob, too - I have a decent 2-channel home audio system I listen to (Sunfire Signature amp, old Sony ES receiver, old Denon SACD, PSB Platinum speakers, StraightWire cables) and have done custom car systems in the past that were just about on-par with my home system, SQ-wise. And for a car, especially a stock system, it gets the job done well enough that I don't cringe every time I turn it up a little. I generally HATE Bose and really hated the Bose in both my old Avalanche (2007) and two previous Audi's.

Overall I'm not happy with the USB integration... slow to respond, can't get the voice recognition to work at all when it comes to music, and it does NOT like any of my iPods. I went the route of a 128gb thumbdrive, left permanently plugged in. Could have gone with an SD card, and actually went to the store to buy an SD card to use in the truck... and stumbled across a sale on thumb drives instead. For the same cost as a 64gb SD card, I got a 128gb Class-10 thumbdrive. I preferred to have the space... a lot of my music is in lossless format so it sucks up space quick.

How's the user experience with the SD/thumbdrive?

If the SD card is in, what happens when you do plug your phone in?

Should be able to use 'media' button to scroll thru the connected media sources.

Yep. Just keep hitting "Media" until you get to the desired device. Or use the DIC under "Audio" to select a device directly.

I'll share my experience and hope someone can help me out.

I usually run my music from my Iphone4 (yes I know its time for an upgrade) via bluetooth. It has generally worked really well. I do wish the album art would show and I'd be able to control the playlists via the dash controls but I manage. On a road trip a couple weeks ago, I hooked up my phone with the cord to charge it and play at the same time. It worked great but when I started the truck up the next time, it wouldn't play, I unplugged it and tried bluetooth and it wouldn't work either. Somehow bluetooth started working again.

Today I get in my truck and bluetooth kind of works. I have to select the songs and do all the controls on my phone, but I do get sound through the system. It also says "artist and title unavailable". Is there something I changed or am I just better off going the SD card route? Do I get album art and the ability to change playlists on the steering wheel with an SD card?

Mine will do this sometimes. What fixes it is pressing radio, then press media to get back to your iphone as the source.

Well I think I might have solved the problem and it wasn't with my truck. My phone wasnt bringing up the music page on my lock screen. Changed some stuff in my phone and now it does show up.... gonna see if it works properly in my truck later.
