Smartphone money spent?

I turn all that junk off. I don't want hints sent to a cloud. If I did I'd send it there my damn self. All these auto sync to blah blah doesn't mean crap to me. I also don't have unlimited data. I want my SD card because that's where I back my apps up to, and used to have my pictures saved to but Google went and screwed that part up. I just haven't gotten around to spending the time to figure out how to get it back that way without going back to KK.

If I smash my phone to where it no longer powers on then no adb pull or even just using Windows Explorer to get my stuff off my phone. I'm a hoarder, I keep too much. I can't predict my usage because I don't know what I'll put on my phone. I have a few gigs of comics, I've had 5+ gigs of video files, a few gig or so of app backups, depending on what I have installed my nandroids can be anywhere from 1.5 gigs to almost 10 gigs each. Rom files, gapps packages, and other flashing related stuff. Then I have music as well. My first smart phone 3 years ago came with a 4 gig SD card, I thought that's all I'll ever need, then I went to an 8, a 16, and currently on my 2nd smart phone I have a 32 gig card and I'm already waiting for a Sammy 64gig pro to drop a few bucks in price. I keep my devices until I see something that I think I'd want to spend $500+ on. So buying bigger micro SD cards vs a complete new phone just to have more space is a waste for me.

Basically I want to be able to choose what I want, not some bean counter, social trend follower, market researcher or what have you.

I can charge my phone from dead (0%) to 100% in just about an hour and a half or less. Feature does me zero good if I'm not near a wall plug. Do I have to have the extra battery size, no, my 2800 mAh works just fine. I just like having more. Just like for the amount I pay in gas a month I could get some little sardine death trap of a car that with monthly payments and gas would probably come out cheaper than just my monthly gas bill and no payments of my current truck. Do I need a 2500HD no, but I won't own anything else especially now that no one has a 1500 with an 8 foot bed in it on anything other than a regular cab. I'm hate this stupid tiny 6.5 short bed thing. Again I know what I want, may not always be what I need, but how many of us get what we need vs what we want?

As far as unlimited data: you set the autosync for Wi-Fi only. Won't ever use a drop of cellular data.

Want vs. need? No one gets what they need... If we did, only a small percentage of people would have a cell phone, and it would be a simple flip phone. Think about it... Who actually NEEDS a smartphone? It could be argued that folks like myself need some sort of way to stay in touch with customers (I'm in sales) while on the road. So, email is useful (not absolutely not NECESSARY).

I already have enough of my stuff out on the Web courtesy of Google, fb, and my own stupidity, regardless of wifi or not I don't want it and personally find it stupid. Why would I want to wait for something to download if I can have it instantly because it's already on my phone. I don't use Netflix because I don't like streaming. I'll download whatever I want to watch and have it available where ever I am whenever I want.

To each their own. Great thing about having choices.

Also the wifi reasoning to me is pointless as the only reason I'd want to back my phone up is if I smashed/damaged my phone which most likely isn't going to happen when I'm near wifi, or cell reception for that matter. Phone inoperable pull the SD card get new phone, install custom recovery, rom of my choice, root, restore all my stuff. Simple and easy.
