& who knows what caused it. Apple is supposed to be investigating the claim.

I have quite a bit of experience with alot of phones... I have 0 interest in the new S6 as it does not have a user changeable battery ( could probably do it with some tools but dont want to take the time ) and no SD card slot... Those are HUGE nails in the coffin for the Galaxy S series for me.

Im leaning more towards the Note 4 or 3... I have a bunch of stuff to trade for one thats practically brand new with a bunch of accessories... wont cost me a dime out of pocket. [/quote

Your right I forgot about that haha silly Samsung that's what makes android so great was the expandable memory with SD cards going up to what ? 128 gigs now a days and the option to toss a new battery in was always nice batteries start to suck after a year I find but the note 4 is a prime choice thinking about makes me want to buy one hahaha

Yeah, have never owned anything Apple related. But given the power most of these smartphones are kicking out, the abuse they take, am surprised issues like this are rare.

I keep mine for two years except for the last one that I had. I bought this Note 4 for $300 so I'll be keeping it at least two years, probably more. I can't see paying that much and not using it until it is completely dead.

I was lucky to have an upgrade available and only had to pay $100 for my Galaxy S5. I got it this past October so it had been out a little bit but not long enough for people to think about the S6. I don't understand the Apple lovers to pay over $500 every year just for the new iPhone. I know not all do, but I'm talking about the ones that just have to get the newest one out there and don't care about the money. I myself might keep my S5 longer than the 2 years unless the new Galaxy is awesome compared to the S5 and I won't have to pay much. I'm with Sprint and they have it where you can choose to make monthly payments of around $20 a month but at the end of that 2 years you're paying full retail of around $600 for the phone.

He is on Sprint. But have been hearing there are some issues with Verizon on the S5 Android update. Rapid battery drain, app crashes etc.

I've done ok with mine since I switched to iPhone. Got the 4 at normal contract price, sold my old Droid X to a friend who ended up using it just as a remote for his GoPro. Really wanted LTE a year or so later so I paid cash for the 5, gave the 4 to my brother who needed a phone. 5S came out, I used Verizon's trade in to offset the upgrade cost minus the $30 fee they charge for an early upgrade. Did the same with my 5S to buy the 6. Happy with this and hope they keep one this size cause I don't want anything bigger.

Since the S6 is NOT out yet, most of the forum talk is focused on what the 6 does not have. Which is removable sd card, battery & no longer carries the IP67 rating being dust & water resistant.

Thanks, just saw the how to. Though did not explain how the rear glass cover specifically separates from the body. Would have assumed it was glued. But after that is seemed pretty simple.

Though at the bottom of the article (I just read) the continuing complaints about no expandable storage were dominant. It is funny, iphone buyers apparently do not mind

the battery/storage/IP67 stuff as not thinking it has ever been an option on their products. But Samsung or just android people in general are all sorts of wound up.

I think a lot of people aren't happy with the S6 not having an SD card slot is because that's what people use to put pics and vids on. I'd much rather not have that stuff on the phone. It's easier to go from phone to phone and if you need more room you can just buy a bigger card (I believe the S5s are compatible with cards up to 128 gb).

About the battery, I'd like to be able to easily change the battery if the factory one wears out or if the phone freezes (which hasn't happened to my S5 thankfully). I do have enough confidence to take a small screwdriver to the phone to change the battery (I'm assuming that's all you'll need). Maybe Samsung is doing this stuff to try to convert some iPhone users. Hopefully they won't keep the battery and no SD card for long.

Ya the Android 5.0 and it's also the Sprint 5.0 with those problems. It seems like every android update I've had the battery gets just a little worse. I'm not surprised for the 5.0 version to use more battery because it has more animations. As for apps crashing, I've only had a couple games that would crash at open. I wasn't much into those games anyways so I just uninstalled them. I don't know if it's that the 5.0 is just crashing, but being that it's only happened to 2 games out of all the apps I have (which is a lot) then I assume it's the game or app itself that needs to be updated to be used for the 5.0. The only real problem is that the message about the "Contacts" crashing on an almost regular basis. It's just annoying since I haven't had a problem with going into my Contacts, the annoying thing is just having the message pop up at least once a day.

The "problem" with apps and 5.0 is that prior to 5.0 Art was in beta and optional to turn on (had to jump through a couple easy hoops to get to the option even). With 5.0 Art is standard and some devs have been "lazy" in redoing their apps to make it compatible with Art. Others like the Xposed have so much stuff to change it's taking them a while to be fully Art compatible, they still aren't either. Art is supposed to be faster than Dalvik but I didn't notice any difference when I was on JB and Art.

5.0 has battery drain issues all by itself from what I've read. Apparently enough that it's supposedly addressed in the upcoming 5.1 update. Google officially announced it yesterday I think. Also the AOSP images of 5.1 should be out soon

The new S6 will go far beyond 128, as well as any other SDXC compatible phone, I think the limit is 2TB if I remember correctly.

Apple users probably don't "care" about sd cards because they've never had them as an option so they either pay for more internal (absurd amount vs micro sd prices) or use a lot of cloud storage. Plus a lot of older data plans were unlimited for them too so that might have something to do with it. To each their own. I "only" have 3 gigs of data and I have only ever gone over 1 gb once or twice in the almost 4 years of having a data plan. I have access to amazon's cloud, google's cloud, I have a 50 gb box.net account I got from my HP Touchpad and I doubt if I have 2 gigs on there. I just like having access to my stuff now without the wait. Plus not all airlines have free wifi so having all my tv shows and movies in a cloud wouldn't do squat for me if I have no way to get to it.

If my phone gets smashed and inoperable to where I can't use my computer to pull things off of it then I'm screwed. Unless I have an micro SD card where all I have to do is pull it out and all my stuff is good to go as long as it's saved on there.

So glad I don't use a stock rom. I can only imagine bloatware is going to get worse as time goes on. As consumers get more and more used to it it'll just get worse. Look at the gaming industry with all the darn DLCs and extra content. Started out as actual extra content and wasn't announced until after the game was released. Now you pre-order the game AND the extra stuff that should have been included in the game in the first place. $60 (console) game turns into $100+ easily and $60 was too expensive to begin with.

I have an S3 that I replaced the battery in after about two years. Still going strong and I'm holding out for the S6. My wife "accidentally" smashed the screen on her HTC (she hated that phone) and went to the S5 which she finally likes enough to learn how to use. That phone from Verizon was "free".....except for all the bullshit transfer charges....with an online code. I don't know why Sammy would eliminate the sd card or the easily replaceable battery but it probably won't stop me from buying.
