Ram Power Wagon

When you were in the market for a new HD, did you ever consider a Power Wagon? I like the off road capability, although, I'd never need it. It also is a little to 'loud'/look at me for my style. That being said if I was younger I might have considered one more seriously What do you think?

I looked at the Power Wagon but wasn't impressed with the interior or the fact that there was no diesel option. I also don't like the front end of the Rams. That's why I chose an All Terrain HD instead. It doesn't shout look at me and is a more refined vehicle. Only down side is the Power wagon has more cool off road features but I would probably never use any of them.

That being said, I'd go for the Ram 3500 with the diesel .

A 6.0 in a 2500 is a slug but will get the job done. The Power Wagon with a 6.4 may be a bit more spirited.

Haven't liked the Rams since they got that backwards slanting front grill around 2010.

I personally would never buy a gas 3/4 ton truck... If I wanted a gasser it would be a 1500 with a 6.2

The thing about the Power Wagon is the with the off road capabilities it takes away from the point of having a 3/4 ton as the payload and towing go way down to about the half ton range.

There a badass off road machine right from the factory. But that being said i would never spend my hard earned money on a dodge !

Yeah, it is a personal choice. Most commercial users are on the other side of the fence. They refuse to buy diesel equipped 3/4 ton pickups due to the inflated cost of the diesel setup, increased cost of the fuel, and the substantial increased cost in maintenance and downtime associated with diesel setups. Yes, in those applications, downtime is money. Many former diesel pickup commercial users are now using gas, NG, or propane fueled vehicles now. Just more cost effective from a business standpoint.

There's a gas company nearby that replaced there FX4 F250's with Power Wagons, from the few guys I've talked to it seems to be six of one, half dozen of the other as far as opinions go, mostly negative. but knowing the reviewers I think most of the complaints fall in the category of if you abuse your new toys, they'll drive like junk in short order. The size and weight of 3/4 ton is always going to be an issue off road, adding 700-800 pounds of diesel components won't help off road capabilities much.

 

I was at Con-way yesterday and was surprised at the number of CNG Freightliner tractors they are running now.

Yeah, been noticing Con-Way Freight using a lot more CNG trucks doing line haul.
