Because with any exhaust modification it sounds like poo in v4 mode.

Ahhh. I see, but I did the GM/Borla exhaust I don't have that issue.

I have a 5.3 and installed the Borla system today myself, only took an hour. I did not align it correctly and the first pipe after the Cat is resting on the frame. That being said, there is a very slight drone (more of a vibration like going over rumble strips) between 1000 and 1100 rpm (very short band) I'm pretty certain it is because of the misalignment which I will fix tomorrow or Saturday. The exhaust sounds pretty amazing - no drone otherwise. What I mean by that is how my wife put - it sounds like a refined sports truck, not stock. Key word is "refined",a deeper growl, not throaty. My 17 YO son thinks it sounds great too. He said it was a huge difference over stock and that's what every truck aspires to sound like.

Inside the cabin, windows up, stock exhaust has zero sound. This GM/Borla exhaust, windows up, has a little bit of sound in the cabin. I would rate the interior sound a "2" on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being loudest. Just a tiny bit more sound and deeper sound in no way offensive sounding inside that super quite cabin. I opened the back center window and did some hard acceleration and it sounds really classy - not raspy. I have not towed yet, I don't have anything to tow. This is really the system you want if you want sound that is not droning or offensive but just enough to enjoy the drive.

berk442, thank you so much for the information. I've had a corsa sport for 10+ years now and i want to get something different for this truck. I was asking about how noisy it was when it pulling something because we have a 23 foot trailer that weighs around 6000lbs. just don't want to be sorry for putting this on. how do feel the quality is of the borla? living in northern illinois its rough on stuff. my corsa still looks/ sounds great. only tips are tarnished a liitle. but i think you'll get that after 191000

Congrats on the buy! I love my double cab.

Check out my instagram for exhaust clips if you're interested in surveying your options. I'm running Flowmaster Super 40s - true duals. I deleted the 3rd cat/resonator and disabled cylinder deactivation, so I run in V8 full time. Even when I ran with DOD active there was no drone in v4, ever.

Really?

That's interesting and actually makes sense. I was seriously considering having a Borla Atak black chrome duel exhaust system installed on my truck after my 6inch stage2 procomp lift gets here in a few weeks.

Now you have me worried. :nonod:

A couple of points, my prior truck was a 95 Silverado with dual flowmasters, the drone was horrible towing my boat. It was horrible going up a hill without a boat in tow... My wife was not happy with me at all it got to the point she refused to ride in the truck. The next vehicle was a 2008 Escalade, because of the previous problems with flowmaster I went with Corsa touring. Sound was okay, but I find Corsa sounds more raspy, higher pitched... On my 07 vette I went with borla partly because all my friends had corsa and it all sounded the same, borla on a vette/ls2 sounds exotic and deep. Add headers, it sounds amazing I actually had a guy pull up to me on the exit ramp stop light and ask me how I got the vette to sound so good. I've had Borla on the vette for 5 years and it looks new, quality is outstanding. Wife has never complained about the vette and we have driven to Bowling Green from Raleigh.

So that led me to Borla/GM for the Silverado. The sound quality and sound comfort exceeded my expectations. Going up a hill under slight load does not cause any drone. I would feel comfortable towing a boat and having my wife in the passenger seat, its really tame inside the cabin.

Problem solved took 10 minutes, had to bend the bracket 1 inch using my 5# hammer. The rumble is gone. System is awesome!!!

I just want to confirm that when you guys say GM/Borla exhaust, that you guys are talking about the Borla exhaust that you can purchase from GM. I'm thinking of purchasing it but I just want to be sure on the details of how it is before I make such a big purchase.
