finally ordered my 2015 silverado double cab!! it was just time to replace our 2003 Avalanche. the Avalanche has served us so well. 191000+and still going strong. new one is a 15 dc 4x4. 5.3, brownstone, cocoa/dune, 18'" wheels w/ raised white letter tires, LT plus, E85, 3.42 & trailer brake controller. nothing over fancy, just what we need. now i need to figure out what mods to do first. biggest decision is which exhaust to go with. had corsa sport on Avalanche all these years and absolutely loved it. no issues ever, no matter what driving condition,or what i pulled. would love to hear gm borla. thank you for all the posts, good or bad. I can't wait to get this truck!!!

Congrats on the new ride! First thing I did was remove lower valence and install RANGE AFM disabler. Then a level kit. And that's about it so far lol

RANGE AFM, does it really work? does it mess with warranty?

Posted

Yeah it disables the v4 mode. And as far as warranty goes ), some people says it does, most say it doesnt. I wouldn't believe it would because it's not reflashing the computer

where is good place to order? i have seen some posts it's best to get straight from manufacturer for best warranty on AFM?

Seems to be lots of controversy over the Range and some problems it may create (kills battery, throws codes). Be sure to do your research.

You can also disable AFM by shifting to M.

It's free and you don't have to worry about your warranty!!!

If you care about using grade braking, Grade Braking is not available when

Range Selection Mode (manual mode) is active.
V4 will still work in the top gear, if the top gear is selected in M mod.

Got mine from autoanything.com and also got 20% off the order as well as $10 overnight shipping. I heard reports about it throwing the service stabilitrak and brake assist messages. If this is correct, mine has done it twice but some have said that's because it's not the latest version loaded on there. You just call the manufacturer and give em serial number and if it needs to be updated it's free of charge. About to do this soon for my truck actually

Some are worried that this version might work like some of the early versions did.

How did the old version work? This 2015 is my first AFM vehicle and the switching from 4 to 8 to 4 is totally seamless.

Why would a guy with a new truck want to disable AFM?

Because with any exhaust modification it sounds like poo in v4 mode.

I also read somewhere that it contributed to increased oil consumption. So I put the disabler on my truck as well as a catch can
