Unconnected Wire and Connector

I noticed that I have a wire hanging down below my truck. I crawled underneath and found the wire and connector sitting on a flat spot on the transfer case crossmember. It isn't long enough to plug into anything and there are no missing connections anywhere so I'm not sure what it is to or where it goes. Any thoughts?

If it helps, I have the same open connector hanging down on my Denali 4x4 as well. I've wondered what it would go to, but more importantly, why GM wouldn't cap a connector open to main wiring harness.

Edit: I take that back, as I thought you were referring to a different connector. I have a gray round connector on the driver's side frame.

Gray round connector might be the one for the alcohol sensor.

I just went by the dealer today for tire rotation and looked under new trucks on the lot. They have the same things but they are held down to the frame with plastic fastener. Odd that GM wouldn't cap these.

Only from what I read so I could be wrong...

GM doesn't use a ethanol/alcohol sensor anymore, if you're talking about e85 engines. They haven't used them since about 2005/2006 time frame. In that case I'm not sure what the connector could be from/to.

Maybe have a dealer pulled up a electrical schematic and see if it shows the connector and names it's purpose?

It does have a plug in it if you pull it down and look into it. I actually just finished converting my non FFV 2015 Sierra to an FFV truck, by purchasing the ethanol sensor and some additional fuel line and connectors and having the sensor enabled on my tune.
