Bent hitch!  Help...

I believe the factory hitch on my 2003 3/4 ton Suburban is bent.  It appears to be bent upwards.  My best guess is that this is from the torque applied by the Reese 1200lb trunnion WD system.  The rating on the hitch led me to believe it would handle this.  Please take a look at the pictures below and tell me what you think.  Well, what do you think?  Do I need to upgrade to a Class V Titan hitch?

That looks bent to me...   The HD's come with a class V hitch on them, so I'm surprised your "burb" doesn't have one...

Talk to the dealer about it and see what he says...

I just took a look at the hitch and maybe it is a class V. It says "Talon V-5" on it and says it is rated for 12,000 lbs trailer weight and 1,500 lbs tongue weight with a WD system.  The hitch is made of tubular steel, not the square tubing like some of the others I've seen. I wonder if that has allowed it to torque the tubing? Reese makes a beefy Class V hitch, but I'd hate to upgrade and have the same issue.

Yeah thats bent for sure. I was really torquing out on my W/D hitch too on my 2500HD until I realized that I didn't have enough weight on the rear axle. Too much bouncing around in the rear. I see your trailer in the background of your pic. What does it weigh? I don't think the frame on a 2500 tahoe is a 2500HD frame-I think its a beefed up 1500 frame, hence a 2500. But I am not sure on this one. Anyway my point is just try and remember its a weight distributing hitch not a weight absorbing hitch. Get that fixed and let the back of your truck do its job and eat the weight its supposed to. Happy camping!   :jester:
