Reasonable price for new windshield?

As the title states, I need to look into getting my windshield replaced. A rock hit me in the bottom left corner at some point and I never saw it until it started splitting across my windshield. Normally I'd just leave it there until I had to replace, but its right in my line of sight so it bugs the hell out of me. Those that have replaced their windshield in the past, do you recall what you paid?

Not going to be going through insurance as my deductible is $1,000 so I'll just be paying out of pocket.

For what it's worth, truck is a 2014 Sierra.

Change your comprehensive to $100. Won't change your rate more than a few dollars.

Are you SHURE that it was a rock? My last 2014 had the windshield crack due to a stress issue. There have been a few times this has happened that I know of.

Well it was either a rock or something similar. There's impact damage from something then the split goes both ways. I'll try to post up a picture later tonight.

A side story I just thought of. I travel a good bit for work and have had hundreds of different rental cars. Normally I never get the incident coverage unless I know I'll be out in the field, even then it's terrain dependent, but anyways my last trip was up to Billings, Montana and I had a truck reserved, but go figure when I got up there they were out of trucks. The best alternative to what I had reserved was a brand new Ford Flex. Well this trip was for field inspections and had I taken the Flex out into the landscape, it would've looked like a tin can by the time I was done with it. Getting to the point here, I ended up staying on paved roads with the exception to a few gravel roads and just walking to where I needed to be until they were able to find me a truck. Heading back to town to go swap vehicles I'm on a two lane paved road going about 40 or so and a semi passes me going in the opposite direction and about the same time he kicked up a rock and it impacted right about dead center of the windshield. Never seen anything hit by a rock from a vehicle going in the opposite direction. Ended up paying for that one....well kinda. Business expense write off! lol

pretty sure insurance companies cover 0 deductible glass. i've had like 5 replaced in the past on various vehicles with no cost and no rate increase.

Not sure if your company provides you with a credit card, but if not; there are some that offer free car rental insurance if you use their card. I like to build points and have had good success with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Thought that might be helpful for you...

As for cost of a windshield, would think $300 to $400 be about average. Call around, Binswanger glass is a larger chain in the Houston area.

Here's a picture I just took of my crack. Doesn't look too bad in a pic, but it's been growing about an inch a day

Every company is different in regards to glass coverage....

KERRSLIGHT, I had to have my windshield replaced coming back from Colorado. I got my windshield from apple glass right off 45 north in the woodlands. They are on the left hand side feeder heading north. Got my windshield for around 300 something. Dealership told me 600 + for the windshield with out installation. They treated me right and I compared their windshield once it was out on some horses compared to thiers. Exact in everyway. I took calipers to both to measure thickness. Lol. The only difference is the black tag that is on the passenger side bottom of the windshield that says gm on it is covered up. Good people and I do recommend them. Had me done in a little over an hour while I waited.

Thanks for the info. Might have to check them out. I've sent some estimate requests out so we'll see what they come back with.
