Android Lollipop

I just updated my S4 to new Lollipop software and was wondering what people think of it. I have noticed the battery lasts longer and camera no longer has a pause between when you push the button and when it actually takes the picture and the pictures seem to have better color. The one annoying thing is the different colors at the top, like on mine it's aqua when in email, gray for when using the internet, kind of a teal for when dialing phone numbers, etc. Anyone know how to change that?

Is there any tricks or major changes anyone has noticed?

I havent figured it out. Go on the youtube app and go between channels

There's no need to change that bar color because it just color matches whatever color the app is using.

Since the update from the first version the battery does seem to last longer and I like all of the fluid motions when something appears and disappears. I also like that they put the camera button on the lock screen.

I love my Galaxy S5 (huge upgrade from the S2) and not sure about the new S6 being that you can't easily get to the battery and there's no external storage. I wouldn't mind taking screws out to take the cover off, I just like being able to simply take the cover off and there's the battery and sd card. I also like the sd card option so I can just put it in the new phone when I upgrade for the music and pics.

I dont care about external storage as long as it has decent storage

That kind of sucks. I don't like the colors changing, especially that they all seem to be pastel colors.

I'm not quite sold on the S6 either that's why I'm holding onto my S4 for now. I really like the removable battery and I have a 32gb SD card in mine, lots of storage.

I don't need a huge amount of storage, but I just like how I can easily upgrade to more storage if I need to and when I upgrade to a new phone it's as easy as just putting the card in the new phone. The Galaxy S5 that I have I believe can have an sd card up to 128 GB.

It can. I only use a 16. So in total i have 32. 64 total would be nice. Even if it is all built in

You could still upgrade to the S5 and I love mine. Hell I got mine late last year in Oct I believe it was and it only cost me $100 at Radioshack (had an upgrade available). I may be keeping my S5 for awhile.

My S4 works just fine and not sure the S5 or 6 is a big enough improvement. I am up for an upgrade but might just wait. I have been considering upgrading for awhile and just can't decide.

I may be getting a Note 4 on friday. I miss the big screen

Since the update , my Note 4 is running slow on some apps. Facebook constantly crashes / freezes. I find myself having to force close FB a lot and restarting it. Also i have to restart the phone more often since it seems to lag..

I liked the old version better.

I just updated FB today and its still screwing up. Battery seems to be about the same.

My battery consumption has seemed to increase with the update

I was hoping it was just because I'm at the lakes this week. I updated while down here, took about an hour to download both updates. I noticed the same thing but the signal is pretty piss poor here so I hope it gets better when I get back to civilization.

    • The oil filter has NOTHING To do with oil leak. GM sources parts from 1,000's of vendors and as with anything mass produced, flaws are unavoidable.    Putting a larger oil filter will do nothing but satisfy emotions. The OEM filter is designed for the engine and perfectly capable of handling the demands on the engine. Oversize oil filter could result in reduced flow and overall lower oil pressure.
    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
