2015 Lower Air Dam Removal

Right Mike. Don't need that mess. Looks better without it to me. A dream - all makes would stop this cylinder deactivation mess and direct injection. A dream... Makes me just keep on keeping my old trucks.

I'm annoyed at this thing because I managed to break 3 of the clips on the actual bumper where it screws on to. I'm really debating just removing it, because it looks crooked now. I'm sure it helps with MPG, even if just a little, and I actually don't mind the way it looks with it, but with it bent it's just hideous.

Within the 1st month of having mine it scrapped on a normal curb at the post office and I thought that was said so that's when I decided to trim it or remove it. Then later it got scrapped up real bad (above where I was going to trim it) so I just removed it.

When I had my 98 I kept it on, but not for long. I went mudding and had to get pulled out of a hole. I didn't have tow hooks at the time so when I hooked up to a crossmember, I believe it was, the chain rubbed against the valance and had one end hang off the. So when I got it home I just basically tore it off the rest of the way. The truck was already leveled (from a previous owner) and I liked the valance gone since it showed more of the IFS.

I went to a family get together yesterday to a cabin with a decent but not perfect winding gravel road. My air dam scraped twice but the little Kia in front of me didn't, kind of embarrassing! Mine is coming off soon and I will probably put at least a 1" spacer on the front and some 275/65-18 AT tires on it in the future. I knew the Z71 option was a joke when I bought the truck but I liked the rims and grill better than what the regular 4x4 LT had. GM should not even put a sticker saying "off road" if they are not going to be serious about it. Don't get me started on the piece of plastic they call a skid plate. Even my base model F150 work truck comes with full set of metal skid plates.

why the hell would you want to get rid of direct injection??? Better gas mileage and better HP out of the same motor w/ traditional FI seems like a no brainer to me.

I hate the plastic skid more than anything, I can't jack the front of my truck up without doing both sides separately.

Yeah I got the Z71 mainly because a plastic skid plate and rancho shocks were better than nothing and I can't stand the blinged out chrome look of the non-Z71 truck grilles. I'm guessing other people felt the same since they offer a black grille on the 4x4's now.

I don't do much off roading in my personnel trucks and I knew the truck had plastic for a skid plate but I just figured there would be an aftermarket option if I ever decided I needed one but that does not seem to be the case. The skid plates are important to me in my company truck because of the roads I am on and I used them frequently. We put out bids for our trucks and Ford has got it on the half tons the last couple of years. It will be interesting if we get some chevys and end up tearing something up that a metal skid plate could have prevented. The one downside to my Ford work truck even though it has metal skid plates is that the 4wd actuator motor hangs down in front of the transfer case. I have already busted one and had to have it replaced and another guy in the timber industry I ran into has also broke his off.

The High impact "plastic" Skid plates will do all you need.

Yeah a guy here posted a picture of his "high impact" skid plates ripped off the bolts after driving in some snow. I guess the top layer of ice/harder snow was a little too much for the.......plastic......

No it wouldn't have. We're talking that little bit of hard snow from melting slightly during the day and then re freezing. You may lose some of your wax coating but metal will destroy it. No way a metal skid plate would rip like that.

It would have sheared off the bolts just as the plastic did.
