Vents always blow on feet

Nope

With the new update based on the inside/outside temps the HVAC will turn on and either turn on the heat/AC at the appropriate vent position automatically. I don't know why the engineer did it the way they did, the update puts it back to the way all previous GM vehicles HVAC would work under remote start.

Were you having any other issues similar to mine before the update? I pulled out my actuator and it seems to work, but I disconnected all the arms off the gear that it rotates and I thin I connected them back up wrong. Going to look into it more tomorrow.

No, mine was fine. I was just irked than while under remote start my truck wouldn't heat/cool unless I left the HVAC system on and at the setting I wanted. There are times I drive into work with the windows down (most of the time) so the HVAC might not be on. The only issue I had with my HVAC was sometimes when I would use the AC if I turned the AC off on the HVAC system the compressor would still stay on even though the AC light was off. The only way to the get the AC to disconnect was to turn the HVAC system off and then back on. Same thing would happen under heat at times as well. That has stopped with the update.

Ah OK, well I never turn off my hvac so it doesn't bother me much. I think my problem was the gears needed to be greased, the big mechanism with all the arms on it was binding and stopping the actuator from calibrating properly. Now after taking apart my actuator I think I messed it up. It keeps trying to spin and during calibration and doesn't stop when it gets to the end, just keeps trying to spin in the same direction.

Does anyone have the TSB or update code?

There is no tsb, just tell them you want your hvac control module updated.

I figured out my problem. I removed the mode actuator and mode door. I found that the mode door was greased very poorly. You could see spots where they blobbed it on but it didn't spread. The door didnt rotate very easily so I greased it good and put it back in. I then pulled my battery cable to get the actuator back into learn mode where it goes all the way one way and then all the way back. Then a new problem started where it would turn all the way one way, but it wouldn't sense the end and kept trying to turn. I think this was the cause of the initial problem. The door was jamming up and causing the actuator to not be able to calibrate properly.

I ended up replacing the actuator and all is good. Blowing powerful air out all the right spots. It's never done this since I've owned it. I wondered why in the winter my windshield was fogged up all the time!

Glad to hear it...NOW it is working normal...

Ya if the dealer is telling anyone that its normal to be blowing on your feet all the time they're wrong. Mine doesn't blow on my feet now unless its supposed to.

I would recommend removing and greasing the mode door where all the arms connect to it first and then recalibrating the actuator. If that doesn't work then it may be a bad actuator like I had.

Hi all; Late to the party on this thread; but I just got a 2016 Silverado; and I have the opposite problem... On the drivers side I can't get any AC to blow on my feet; no matter what setting it's on.

Can somone give me a hint/picture as to where the access is for the actuator door so I can look at mine?

Thanks in advance!

I just went to the dealership and talked to them, my service guy has been great to me. He told me it would probably take two hours of labour to diagnose the issue and said its probably the actuator is off position or has broken gears. He was nice enough to show me the service manual and where the actuator is located. I'll be pulling it out tonight after work.

Why do you have to fix it? If yours is a 2015 it should still be under warranty. 36,000 or 3 years which ever come first.

Same question to you. Why are you fixing a truck that is under warranty. Have the dealer fix it., that is what you paid the big bucks for with that truck.

Fair Q. It's tough for me to bring in my truck; my working hours coincide with the hours of the service dept; so I was hoping for a quick peek into this on a seemingly minor problem. I did 99% of my own work on my '02 silverado, and was hoping this would be easy to address.

Okay, that is a fair answer. Do you use your truck for work, or just to drive to work? What I am getting at is, can you swap vehicles with someone and have them take it in for you.

Could someone please explain how to "Make sure your HVAC module has the newest update"? I am having the same issue in my 2015 Yukon.
