Sound system upgrade?

I'm replacing the factory door speakers and and installing subs. But alot of people tell me that wiring all this to my factory head unit will sound bad. Supposedly vocals will be heard from my subs, which I don't want. I want nothing but bass from the subs. Not a single vocal sound. I know that with aftermarket head units, there is a sub wiring option, so therefore all the bass goes to the subs, and vocals to door speakers. Any help with this?

Depends on how low frequency the vocals are. Louis Armstrong is going to come from anyone's sub.

 

Get a good line converter and a good 5 channel amp to go with your speakers. The amp will have a crossover.

I have a 2014 Silverado LTZ with the Bose system. I kept the factory head unit and had the following installed.

 

LC7i Audio Control - Ties in to the factory system and Bose amp to keep all my chimes, OnStar, etc

JL Audio 400/4 4ch amp

JL Audio C2650 components in front door and dash

JL Audio TR650-CXI in rear door

JL Audio 600/1 mono amp

JL Audio 12w6v3

JL Audio remote bass knob

Hushmat on all 4 doors

 

System has been tuned and there is no distortion.

I made the purchase during the Black Friday weekend sale, so the prices were great. Came out to about $2800. I had a custom fiberglass ported box built and tuned for the sub, $800. So around $3600. Also check out http://www.crutchfield.com/. Been ordering car audio from them since '99. Might find some good deals on their site as well.

the box is fiberglass and ported. that's why it's kind of pricey. as you know, air space is limited in a pickup, so to make sure you get enough for a ported box, they used all the real estate under the seat. how do i insert a pic on a reply? i can post a pic of what the sub and box looks like.

Lol interesting .. my door speakers are subs and i want sound. Sounds weird in my truck when the tuning is balanced and vocals come from the dash and door has the bass.

 

Wish it was more balance with vocals and bass like i had in my maxima.
