Congratulations to readers of GM-Trucks.com. You are setting the bar for the use of in-car connectivity. General Motors today announced that drivers of the Silverado are among the most connected drivers on the road today. According to GM research, Silverado drivers are the most frequent users of the OnStar mobile apps available to them. This is in comparison to all other GM models.

Silverado and other GM truck owners, use the apps to do things like check their tire pressures and oil levels via their smart phones, and remotely starting their trucks via phone. Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer for Silverado, noted that "It’s not surprising that Silverado owners would take full advantage of RemoteLink’s ability to keep tabs on the health of their Silverado.” After all, truck owners are often using the vehicles in their business, and everyone needs a technology edge to stay ahead.

The reason GM chose to highlight this is the company is planning a roll-out of new proactive alerts. These alerts are possible due to the new 4G LTE high-speed data transfer in new GM products. Soon things like low tire pressure warnings, battery warnings, and other diagnostics will be being sent to Silverado owners to help save them time and money. This is only the beginning. GM also has a program in mind that will help drivers negotiate better insurance rates with their insurance providers based on their unique driving data.

Hahaha, they must not be talking about me.

I missed the link to this forum?

What I took from it is Silverado (no mention of Sierra) owners use the on star app more than any other GM product.

I "assume" this is based on percentage, not total users. For example 75% of Silverado owners vs 60% Cruze owners; not 150k owners vs 100k owners.

But like nearly all stats, they can be skewed to achieve the desired outcome.

I think someone is trying to get us to want to fit in that crowd and buy On-Star so we will be up to date.
