Anso LED tail lights - Turn Signal Failure message

Hey guys so I got a set of the OEM-look Anso LED taillights. They installed great, look great, and work great in all but the turn signals. When I turn on either left or right signals I get about 4 normal flashes, then it goes to rapid flash and on the instrument cluster I get the "left/right turn signal failure" message. They appear to have load resistors in place, so not sure why this is occurring.

 

Any suggestions or experiences here? Thanks!

You have the grey boxes plugged in correct? If so, then the only issue I could think of is the one I noticed when reinstalling mine after getting them smoked.

These lights/trucks are EXTREMELY picky, if you have one of the plugs in wrong, the same plugs you pulled the OEM bulb out of. So the bulb's socket, if the anzo plug isn't plugged into there one way, then it'll toss up the bulb out warning. Try taking the tails out, flip the top socket, turn on signal, let flash for 10 seconds, if no message or hyper flashing occurs, then you are good, if it does flash, then flip the bottom. Try again. If it still flashes, the. Flip the top one more time. By now you should've gotten it to work properly. If it still doesn't then you have a bad resistor box.

Your Anzo probably uses LEDs, you need resistors in parallel to simulate power draw like original halogen bulbs.

 

resistors goes in parallel to the bulb, you need 4, one in each of the 7444L connection.

Anzo does use LEDs. They come with resistors

LOL, ok.

 

The "rapid flashes" or usually referred to as "hyper flash" is a common term to describe the vehicle sense something wrong with the bulb. faster timing of the flashes is used as an indicator for the driver that the bulb for signals might be faulty. It is just the newer makes has onscreen display showing the actual problem.

 

To prevent it, either hack the BCM or just stick the resistor there to fake power draw to heat :D

Guys they have two resistors on each of them... Anso included them in the design. That's why I'm confused why I'm getting hyperflash.

I have the same issue on my right tail. However it happens so rarely that I didn't even bother taking it out to get it looked at. I will eventually if it gets more common.

maybe just add one of those universal ones on the stock connector? so it will always work, I doubt the LEDs will really ever go out before the truck breaks down

Ok guys I tried switching the plugs around, I DID have a couple of them backwards (meaning black to green instead of green to green) but this has not solved the problem. Still getting the failure message and fast flash. I have contact ANSO, hopefully they will reply with a solution. Will keep you posted.

FIXED IT. Well sort of because it was never broken in the first place. I was testing it with the key in the "on" position only. When you start the truck and the engine is running it does not do it. The LED signals work normally. Turn off and go back to "on" and it will do the hyperflash/error message again. Weird, wonder why this is??

The LED signals work normally. Turn off and go back to "on" and it will do the hyperflash/error message again. Weird, wonder why this is??

They might have made the power draw JUST enough to pass the error detection, therefore, if an LED DOES go out, the sensor still works as intended.

Hi Guys I am still getting the turn signal failure message and fast flash maybe once every 5 times. I measured the resistance on all the resistors and they are all matching about 10-12 ohms. Anyone know what wattage/ohms the BIU is looking for at the rear taillights? I am thinking of trying some different load resistors but not sure what type/size to buy.

Here's what I experienced. I have the Anzo tail lights and I got the same error message. The Anzo bullet style quick disconnects for the resistors had a poor connection with each other and acted like an open circuit-hence the error message. I actually replaced both the resistor and the connectors while I was in there.

 

I use these resistors for my front turn signal LED's and they also work in the rear as well:

Just don't use the ghetto wire taps-I splice and heat shrink. You want 6 ohms on each circuit-6 ohms for each bulb you've changed.

Thanks Rob, just ordered a set of those. My feeling is the Anso resistor packs are junk. I measured them at 10-12 ohms, maybe too much resistance in addition to poor connection. I assume the BIU is looking for a specific resistance range. Will give these a try and yes I will hard wire them in, no connectors.
