ChevyHDGert Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Anyone notice that the Avalanche without cladding has the Silverado front end and the Silverado round wheel openings and the first Avalanche has the square wheel opening and a little bit different grill? It is not that noticeable but you can definitely tell a difference.
ChevyHDGert Posted April 9, 2003 Author Posted April 9, 2003 Avalanche.... Silverado Looking Avalanche.....
Machine Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Yes sir, we saw about 3 different variations of the avalanche out at Texas Motor Speedway. It looks sharp in its dressed down form.
seadoons Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 So does that mean that the second picture (the one that looks like the current silverado) is the 2003 year model? It looks good...better than the first pic. with all the plastic.
Machine Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 From what i understand is that you can order the Avalanche without the body armor as an option. The original version is still available, too
Marcus Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 I might be in the minority here, but I like the way the Avalanche looks with the body cladding. Especially with the 2003 models where it is a bit darker than prior years.
BlackSilver Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 It is not that noticeable but you can definitely tell a difference. The biggest clue is in the wheels. The top one has 8-bolt wheels (2500-series) and the lower has 6-bolt wheels (1500-series).
MountaineerTom Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 You can still get a 1500 with the body hardware package and the original Avalanche grille.
BlackSilver Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Gee, options, we like it. Gee, I wish there was an option so that the front of my 2003 2500HD didn't look like it's Mom mated with an avalanche!
99silveradoz71 Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Gee, I wish there was an option so that the front of my 2003 2500HD didn't look like it's Mom mated with an avalanche! Amen to that...the pre '03 HD front end/hood...a thing of beauty- if I dare use the word referring to a truck.
MI 99XPL Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 Don't forget to compare the rear fender flare (body cladding) and non flare (without cladding). Both the with and without cladding come in 1500 and 2500 versions! Truck on!
