Houston dealer to change tpms

Recommended Posts

I am putting 35's on my truck and can't find a dealer that will lower my tpms rating down so my warning message doesn't come on. Anyone know a dealer in the Houston or Beaumont tx area that is willing to change it.

I wonder why they won't help you. All versions of trucks can come with LT tire which would require a change. I am also having 35" tires installed on Monday along with a lift and I have already made an appointment at my local dealership to have the TPMS adjusted. They were more than happy to do it for me they said it is your truck and can put any kind of tires you like.

Finally found one in Baytown willing to do it for me, gonna charge 120

Go ordnance,

What pressure are you going to have them set it at. I'm thinking 40 since I plan to run mine at 45. At least 45 is what I been reading others are running there 35/12.50's at.

Do you just need to have the TPMS sensors relearned when installing new wheels?

If so just buy one of the sensor interrogator tools instead of paying the dealer. That way you can rotate wheels on you own without the dealer.

Haven't made my mind up yet. More than likely around 42 or so. But we will see how it drives when I get my truck back from having everything installed this week.

I am confused, the stock warning doesn't come on until around 27psi. Why would you want it raised up so high instead?

Just wanted to give an update to anyone that ever tries to search what I'm looking for in my area.

Drove to Baytown gmc today after confirming they could lower my tire psi range, after an hour they came out to tell me they can't. Typical car dealership crap.

Anyways still on the hunt to find someone that can. Also they said the newer trucks use global instead of tech 2, not sure if there's any truth to that but what I was told.

Anybody know of someone in the Houston area please let me know. Thanks

Your dealer is telling you correct, as I said in another thread GM has locked the new trucks and vehicles out. They use a new Global laptop based system, GM doesnt allow the dealer to make any changes to the modules other than what the module was programmed with from the factory. You cant go in and use other VIN's either as you could on prev gens.

Pretty much each module is VIN tied, when the dealer updates the module is flashes the newest firmware that GM has on file for that VIN and module.

You can set the TPMS pressure anywhere you want. Need a dealer to do it or a working version of GDS2 ( license expires in 30 days) and an MDI. I did it to my '14 and '15. I run 32 psi for better ride and didn't want the light coming on too soon.

I purchased a tool off Amazon the tpms maxi tool I'll have to see if it does this or not.

I am officially of the opinion that there is zero need to mess with the TPMS monitoring system for larger tires. I run 42 psi in my 35" MT tires and everything on my truck reports as correct. I have no lights or anything. So I have decided that I will not worry about finding a tool for them.

Unfortunately for the 2500 trucks the light comes on at around 60 psi
