93 s-10 water pump

Can some one tell me if I have to use a special tool when removing the water pump on my 93 2.8L s-10 pickup?  I was told that the water pump might be bolted to the timing chain cover and you need to use the tool to prevent the timing cover seal from coming loose and allowing antifreeze to mix with the motor oil.

If its the same as my 91 S-10 I used to have, I'd say the awnser would be no. I also had a 2.8 in mine.
