Black inside headlight house?

Can you paint the chrome inside your headlight housing? I've seen headlights that other wise look stock, only difference being their chrome is black.

If you don't have factory projector lamps, the chrome around the bulb is the reflector and is necessary for the reflector halogen headlights to work. If you painted that, I think you would regret driving at night real quick, as you will be lucky to see down the road at all.

 

Most painted lights are either projector like the link above.
