Level lift vs Suspension

I presently am running a 2.25 inch pro comp level lift with 3 inch rear blocks. I like the way it looks but I've read a lot lately where level lifts can be harder on the truck than say a 4 inch lift. Is this true, which one is harder on the truck and wear? My shop pushes pro comp and that's where I can get best deal but I've noticed their 4 inch lift comes with 3 inch blocks also whereas others come with a 4. Is there anything else pro comp has in their kit that makes the back end come up more, because if I decide to switch to a 4" pro comp suspension lift , does that mainly mean I'm just lifting my front end up another 1 3/4 and the back won't come up anymore that it already is?

If you have 3" rear blocks your truck must have some serious rake! My 2.5" RCX level came with 2" rear blocks and it still maintained a little rake. All the lifts I've seen with blocks give you a 1" smaller block than the lift is rated eg. My 6" BDS lift has 5" rear blocks to make my truck pretty much level.

Please post a pic with that combo I too have the 2.25 lift but didn't do the rear blocks kit did not come with curious how it would look with the 3inch since most do 2inch I'm also worried the 3inch would be to much on shocks please share ur experience as far as ride..

just measured my front and I have 39 3/8 in front and 40" in the rear. Also measured the block and its more like 2.5 inches. I like a little rake like this but was wondering what I would have with the 4" pro comp suspension. But main question is what type of lift is easier on a truck in the long run... level or the suspension?

I'm presently at work and cant post pics but I can say its a little less than rake than the stock. Perfect amount in my opinion.

If you decide to go with the ProComp lift, note that it will push the front track width out +/-4". I added 1.75" Bora spacers to the rear.

Pretty sure my shop ordered it from ProComp also. But I did measure them last night and seemed to be more liked 2.5. I like the look of the rake too but according to my numbers it's only around 3/4 of inch whereas CP4 post is more.

So would you recommend this lift for sure or are there things you do not like? And can you comment overall on whether it's better on the truck for wear than a level lift? Also does it sling rocks and dirt bad in side, need fender flares?

No complaints, no rubbing(+1 wheel offset), and the ride is great. My shop made several positive comments about the quality. I cannot say if it is "better" than a level kit, but the 5yr/60K warranty from ProComp makes me feel good. [emoji6]

    • That one looks decent for the price   BUT..I want something that also supports OBDI/1.5. A lot of the prosumer-grade scanners don't have legacy support in order to keep costs low. I believe the Autel does if you go higher end with them.   For fun, I reached out to a local Snap-On rep because I was interested in the 2600. $1895 MSRP, says he can do $1595. That's still a lot, but then again, that's not a horrible discount for just asking out of the blue. Could probably do better if I was a regular buying off his truck, but I'm not.   Not sure if I mentioned but I didn't realize with USED scanners from Snap On that you need to make sure a) the serial number isn't flagged as stolen. On the newer ones, SnapOn can remotely disable the device if it's flagged in their system. And, customer service can tell you if it is, if you're thinking about buying used. B) Make sure it's paid off. If the seller still owes money to the truck or if they financed through Snap On, the device can be remotely disabled until the balance is paid. It's less clear if SnapOn will tell you if a balance is still owed; I didn't make it that far with the used model I was considering. I did read that SnapOn has no way of tracking any "truck financing" deals between the SnapOn rep and buyer, only if they financed through corporate. So there's that extra caution needed.   Still waffling on whether I go with a ~$500ish Autel/TopDon or spend bigger money. The value seems to be in the prosumer brands. I'm not giving them enough credit TBH, actual production repair shops use them daily BUT I'm still allergic to certain kinds of underdog products trying to unseat American companies with solid reputations. SnapOn's scanner isn't wholly made in the US, but it is assembled here and they have US support and probably the most proven/ robust legacy support.   Something to think about. Value, or principles? There's a $1k difference.
    • I'm thankful to live where we don't have extreme weather. We might all be blown to smithereens when Mt. Rainier goes, but 80 is warm enough in the summer and I can generally count the number of hard freezes in the winter on one hand. The cars here don't rust and they don't get sun-baked, either.   We have finished off many of our average 52 days of "clear/sunny" weather, though. Sunsets are coming earlier, the nights are a little cooler. It's right around the first week of September when we get our first warning that summer is coming to a close with overcast skies and the start of "hoodie weather" temperatures during the cooler parts of the day. By October, it's usually time to ditch the shorts. By November, it's mostly raining.
