1. On Sierra and Silverados with three cats what are most doing? Cutting cat out, hollowing it, or leaving it be?

2. For those that have or have not and comparing is the sounds that much different?

3. If the cat was hollowed or cut out, how was it done?

Thanks in advance.

Best way is to hollow it out, you can do it yourself with a hammer, chisel, crow bars, jack handles, etc... Whatever you can get in there to break up the perforated medium. Remember you need to get it out or it can rattle.

It's minor change in note, a hair more audible and throaty.

I first hollowed my 3rd cat out with absolutely no change in sound and then totally removed it and installed a piece of 3.5" pipe in it's place again no change in sound whatsoever. The only change I noticed was decel gurgle.

Do you have a catback installed?

All the 2014+ trucks are manufacturered as 50 state legal, meaning they all have the 3rd cat. It is unmonitored so you can knock it out/cut it out if you want. There will be a negligable amount of sound increase though.
