Digging up old thread...

I’ve been looking for a good deal on a 6.2 gmc crew cab standard bed.

Guess I could settle on a short bed but would really prefer standard bed.

Its October truck month but now inventory seems low on the truck I’m looking for. Dennis Dillon and Laura gmc have some 2018 in stock but not much of a discount vs the 2017’s.

Any other dealers to check that have lowest in nation prices?

We are pretty much looking for the same thing.  Kind of a Unicorn right now. The standard bed is rare, and the 6.2 as well.  Unless you want a Denali - those are all over the place.....

End of the month, or even better end of a quarter.

Also go towards the end of the day.  The sales team wants to go home.

last few days of novemeber. That is if you don't mind that trucks a new model year newer are out and can be bought. So in the big picture you will loose a bit more then on depreciation if you have to turn it over in a couple years but doesn't much matter if you buy them for the long haul.

I used to think waiting till right before the new model comes out was the best time to buy the current model but I have changed my mind on that.  I have family and friends who have gotten the same 20% or so off their new chevy trucks at different times in the year as I got at the end of the model year.  I have bought 3 new vehicles in the last 5 years and what I have found that each dealership is different on almost a daily basis on what they will let a vehicle go for.  This week dealer A is better than dealers B and C but next week dealer B may come down the most.  My Jeep was the toughest to find a good deal because they have no trouble selling those things but with the truck I got a huge swing between different dealers and even the same dealers over a 4 week period when I was shopping.  I ended up getting my 2014 in September of 14 for 23% off MSRP but my buddy got the same deal on his 16 in March of 2016.  He did his through the internet only, didn't set foot in a dealership except to sign the papers and drive off with his new truck so that may be the way I go next go around.

That's a good deal on new. But year old leftover?

Sometimes it’s the vehicle on the lot the longest. Other times it’s the last day of the month or year on any brand. On 12-31-13 I got 15K off my truck. 18 months later i traded in for a 15 Santa Fe for 27K it listed for 40K. 2 years later I bought a 17 Camry for 17K It listed for 26K. The last two were on the lot the longest. The first one was end of the quarter, month, year, to get their hold back. If your not picky on color and options you can get great deals. I could go farther back in about two year increments but you get the idea.
