2013 gmc 2500 hd 4x4 duramax wt. came with 18 inch tire upgrade. bought set of stock 18 inch alloy takeoffs as soon as i bought it.i wanted a set of dedicated snows just for a few months a year as i get called in to work at all times of night. with limited choices in the 18 in size i just picked up a set of chrome 17 in stock wheels from another gmc owner who upgraded. should i go 245/75/17 or 235/80/17?. i want to get away from the 265's even though the michelins did ok i just want a better ride for a few months in the snow here in ny. any suggestions for a snow tire in either of those sizes?? thanks

235/80/17 would keep your speedo a bit closer than 245/75/17. Say you are doing 60mph according to the truck, you will actually be going around 58.5mph. Stock 265/70/18 have an overall diameter of 32.6 inches. 235/80/17 run around 31.8-31.9 inches depending on the tire.

Best two will be the Bridgestone Blizzak W965 or Firestone Winterforce LT.

ordered a set of winterforce lt 235/80/17 .they will be dedicated winter tires.found a decent deal on 17 in chrome factory takeoffs.they were harder to locate as most 2500's came with the plain steel or the upgraded wheels and not too many chrome sets out there. came with all lugs caps and sensors. tires are just about done but didnt care
