I never understood why gm would lock the hardware by vin. I would think they would want us to upgrade so they could sell us the parts.

Might come close, going to the dealership this saturday for my last free oil change. I might look into what it would cost for a 2016 SLT or Denali. So we will see ;). A 6.2L engine would be nice.

GMs never gonna upgrade 14-15 trucks in my opinion ..... that being said you can upgrade 14-15 trucks to apple carplay already thru 3rd party.... search on here or ebay ..... im sure android auto will be avalible 3rd party as soon as GM releases it to the 16 trucks .
