Transmission Question, again..

Small leak. Doesn't slip but seemed to take a second longer than it should to shift (probably just used to the CVT in the wife's Nissan). Just want to get away from the seemingly bad stock tranny. Wouldnt swap until the stock won't move at all (or just enough to vet to a mechanic to switch it)

We've changed many a torque converter input seal, front pump seal and gasket for transmission leaks on 4L60 if the front of the transmission is wet/greasy. If its getting one of those, it gets all three.

As far as that B&M goes, GM will sell you a remanufactured unit with the latest updated OEM parts, a torque converter, a 3 year, 100k mile warranty for $2,031 plus tax. $32 more than the B&M and if you order from a local GM dealer, they probably won't whack you with freight, just sales tax. The B&M unit the torque converter is sold separately.

B&M is well respected in the performance arena. I'd guess based on where they focus their efforts, they'd probably tend to set their transmissions up fairly aggressive and the shifts would likely be fairly firm if that's something that doesn't bother you, but otherwise it would probably be well put together, upgraded in many areas and will last a long time. I'd probably be just as inclined though to just wait til your current one is ready to give up the ghost, then find a reputable shop that knows what they're doing and will put a guarantee on rebuilding yours.

Seemingly bad stock tranny?? Shifts slow? Slower than your wife's car or another 4L60? Shifting can be tuned in the computer. Slow engagement is a normal condition for a stock 4L60e. I did have one blow up on me at 52000 but I have had others last 200,000 miles. It mostly depends on how you care for it. I do have plans on upgrading mine when I add more power to my engine. One option to look at is the factory 4L70e in the Chevy performance catalog.
