Silverado to Colorado

Has anyone switched from a Silverado to a Colorado? I have a 2014 High Country but am considering downsizing. I don't need a full size. I also want a new Camaro SS so I don't want to be car poor with a top end Silverado and top end Camaro. Would welcome thoughts/comparisons.

I don't think you'll have any problems going down to a Colo as long as you stay in a Z71 with a decent amount of options. If you move down into a cheapo strip down Colo, you're obviously going to miss the HC. Is your Silverado a 5.3L or 6.2L? What engine are you looking to go with in the Colorado? The bigger problem you're going to have is from a financial standpoint. The '16 Silverado's are hitting lots. Your truck will be the old body and will start to be worth less. The dealership will take advantage of this and lowball you on the trade-in value. If you have a decent amount of equity in it, you'll be fine. If you're upside down, it might end up being cheaper to just keep what you've got and ride it out for a few more years. I've toyed around with leasing a diesel Colorado in addition to my Sierra. I don't think I could ever go into a mid-size as my only truck. I've gotten way too used to having a full-size crew cab with a V8.

Thanks. I'll definitely get a loaded Z71...with 3.6. I'm not a big fan a diesel and the V6 is strong enough to pull my boat. I have a 5.3L currently. I do have equity and a couple people interested in buying mine when I'm ready. I may also consider the Canyon.

Test drove a Z71 Colorado yesterday. It is a nice truck. The steering and handling were solid and responsive. It is definitely different from driving a Silverado. You can tell you are driving a smaller vehicle. I can't decide if that's good, bad, or indifferent. It doesn't seem quite as peppy, but it still has plenty of get up and go from the V6 when compared to the Silverado 5.3.

I went from a 2011 GMC Sierra 4x4 Z71 All Terrain extended cab regular box to a 2016 GMC Canyon All Terrain 4 door short box. I didn't need the big truck either. Handling of the Canyon is superb. Great mileage. Upgraded custom interior is very nice. Apple car Play is handy and welcomed. Dealer worked the trade to my advantage. Wife thinks the change in vehicles is good. Glad I made the switch. zoz

If anyone wants a Colorado, my brother wants a Silverado. He has a crew cab z71 that's loaded. I said I would see if anyone wants to trade up even here. Only 8k on his.4f3fea15abf0d04adcfdcbae9235f6c6.jpg
