introduce myself

hi all, just wanted to say hi. i have a 2006 yukon xl denali that my wife drives with our 3 girls and we love it. before that we owned toyotas and lexus. we like them too but they just didn't have something big enough for the active family. i suppose the minivan would work but neither my wife or i would be caught dead in one.

a year ago, i bought my dream car when i was 15, a corvette c4, (black, 1987, z52 package) and started to slowly learn how to fix it from my peeps over at corvetteforum.com which is an amazing forum wow. so many helpful people.

i was on another forum but i have decided to come over to this one, seems like there are more people and overall a much more enthusiastic community similar to the corvetteforum which is amazing.

i just turned 39, 3 kids, business owner. will sell my 2006 tacoma one day and get a gm/chev truck and we will run chevs only going forward. i have learned that once i figure out how to fix these cars, they don't change much through the years, and i can do most of my own maintenance and save me a couple hundred thousand in labour, a whole lot of taxes, and just overall become more self sufficient over the course of my lifetime which i can apply towards other things that actually go up in value instead of depreciate!

Welcome aboard!

I am only 30, yet I also have 3 daughters. Agreed, the minivan was not an option in our house. We went with the Traverse, works well with the car seats. After the car seats are gone, we're gonna swing for the Tahoe.

Sahls, the difference between the tahoe and the suburban / yukon xl is huge --for a family of five --. Gas consumption is basically the same. I would highly suggest checking them out. I will never ever get my wife out of one now until the kids are grown and gone. the denali has the full media package with the wireless headsets....omg...its like pure gold. my wife and i actually get to talk with each other on road trips. the suburban may have that option as well.

That's my dilemma. My wife hates driving my truck, says it's too big! Driving the Traverse was not that much of a difference to her, coming from her G6. But this could be the stepping stone for the the next real SUV. Definitely love the creature comforts the full size have to offer, and the ride on those is like a Cadillac.
