2011 2500hd Cab lights trigger wire

I just got done adding factory cab/roof lights on my truck, got them all wired up and they work. I followed the RECON cab light install video for the wiring part, and used the recon wiring kit.

 

My problem is the lights only work with the key on, or turn the lights on manually with the light switch. I wired the trigger to the brown/white wire like in the video. So my question is, is there a different wire i can use for my trigger wire so the cab lights come on when i lock/unlock the doors with remote and use remote start? Anybody know of one?

 

My truck is a 2011 GMC 2500hd Denali crewcab

Any lights that get turned on by the remote do not stay on very long. If that is not an issue, then why not just tap into the parking light power wire? The only spot I can say for sure you can get to it is at the parking light itself. Parking light will come on with remote start, and should come on with remote lock at night.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, I just have to figure out what wire I need though.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest (we call them 'running' lights up here) - just wire it to your running lights, and they'll blink with the rest when you lock or unlock the doors, depending on how you have your settings (can turn off the flash on lock, unlock, or both).

 

Not a big fan of Recon. Every single item I've bought from them in the past has not even made it through one MA winter ...

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, I just have to figure out what wire I need though.

 

I am one of those that figure running a wire from the parking light might take 10 minutes if I stop to pee halfway through, trying to find the wire somewhere else will likely take a lot longer.
